"Frank, cappuccino, full cream, and almond sugar," Mia said, clipping her order paper on a line wire with a peg. "Coming right up!" "Yes boss," she said, trying to lighten the mood. They've all been working so hard this morning and the line of customers with their orders was not getting any shorter. A loud sound on the cheek was heard from a corner of the room, drawing everyone's attention. A man had slapped Elena across the face in anger. She made a mistake with his order. Mia stared at the man with pure irritation. He just had to raise his hand, didn't he? "Excuse me, what is the issue here?" The manager; Edward, walked toward the scene. "I specifically told this fool to add almond sugar but she refused! What type of customer service is this?" The man fired. "Elena?" Edward called gently. "I completely forgot. I'm sorry" Elena apologized. The man chuckled as though Elena was a joke right now. He poured the cup into her without thinking twice. Elena shrieks in pain as she runs toward the restroom. The man pulled her back in anger. "Where are you going, young lady! I'm not done talking to you!" Edward tried to settle the issue as the man went on yelling. "What on earth is her stepbrother doing here?" Frank asked, staring out at the scene from behind the counter. "Stepbrother?" Mia was stunned. "Yes," Frank returned to the coffee maker. Mua glanced at the scene in pure amusement. She was the closest to Elena of all the staff and she never mentioned having a stepbrother. Mia raised her hand indicating stop and everything froze; the people, both outside and inside the cafe. She glanced at her watch and made an anticlockwise motion with her finger two minutes earlier…. Mia stopped just when the man had picked up his cup. She walked towards him and shook her head. "The fine one for the grumpy one" she stood her head. She pulled his ears and twisted them till they turned red. She directed the hand that had the cup in it towards his head and pulled both Edward and Elena two steps away from the scene. She returned to where she stood and snapped her fingers. Everything went back in motion and a male shriek alerted everyone. Mia laughed her heart out as Elena's stepbrother hurried out of the cafe covered in black coffee. Elena glanced at Mia with a puzzled expression. She felt tingly on her face and excused herself to use the restroom. " Get back to work!" Edward ordered her. "Yes, boss!" Mia chirped happily as she returned to her work murmuring happily. "What did you do?" Frank asked with a knowing look Mia laughed and shrugged. That was her life. Time-travelling. It was a gift she had and would gladly use to help others. Since she couldn't help herself…. Meet Mia. She had woken up one morning without a clue who she was. She was hospitalized and no one came to check on her. None knew where she lived and all she got from where the ambulance had picked her up was from a dumpster. Mia. That was the name Grannie gave her since she couldn't remember anything. She could travel in time, right? Yes. She could try to find out who she was right? Only when she knows what time she was travelling to She had tried to travel back in time to find out who she was but failed countless times. Maybe she was meant to be….Mia It was time for Mia to leave as the cafe flipped over the closed sign. She had bid everyone a good night and was soon on her way to her tiny apartment. She paused and stared at the starless sky and exhaled. The bridge looked lovely under the full moon. Few people were walking past the bridge. "Today was good wasn't it?' She asked no one in particular. She smiled and shut her eyes as the cool breeze blew over her face. It was about to rain and she had no umbrella. "Mia!" Mia smiled on recognizing the voice of an old lady selling jewellery by the bridge. She sat on a rug and displayed her pieces of jewellery on the same rug for sale. "Hello Grannie" "You stopped time today didn't you? You made me lose a potential customer" Grannie complained. "Me?" Mia asked. "That man you poured his coffee over.." "He poured it on himself" Mia defended Grannie glared at the young lady and Mia sealed her lips shut. "He was supposed to buy a lot of jewellery from me being in such a happy mood" Grannie flicked her tongue. "But, the girl would have gotten hurt" Mia defined. "He got hurt too" " but he deserved it!" "That is why you don't change everything that happens entirely. You could have done something else." Grannie scolded. "But she could have been so embarrassed Grannie," Mia said again. "You never listen " Mia smiled. "Have you eaten?" "How could I eat when you can't stop snapping your fingers? " Grannie accused Mia. "I'll go get dinner. Don't go anywhere!" Mia hurried towards a cafeteria. Grannie shook her head and returned her gaze to her pieces of jewellery. A man in a black jacket bent down to take a look at her pieces of jewellery. He had an unusual colour of grey hair and an intimidating aurora around him. He picked up a ring with a red ruby on it, admiring the jewellery in pure delight. " Do you perhaps know any time traveller Ma'am?" his dark, deep voice asked. "If you ask me a billion times in one day, you'll get the same answer, Rufus. No." Grannie said, snatching away the ring. "The elders don't lie," Rufus mocked. "Whoever told you that is a bigger liar," Grannie said snatching away the jewellery from him. "I saw her in action," Rufus said. " Good for you," Grannie said. "How long are you going to keep her away from me?" Rufus asked. "Until you're ready to buy. You always touch the same ring and never buy it" Grannie complained. Rufus exhaled. "I'll get her. With or without your help" Rufus said. "What on earth is he talking about? Look here, are you ill?" Grannie asked. Rufus arched his brow. "What?" "You go about asking a ridiculous question. Time traveller? Only an insane person would believe they exist. Are you sure you don't want to see a doctor? '' Grannie asked. "The nerve!" His voice echoed in Grannie's ears. "I'm only giving you asomeadvice. And you only show up at night….are you a criminal?" She asked. Rufus glared at her and took his leave immediately. Grannie chuckled. "I have been in this longer than you have Rufus" she muttered smiling.
