POV:Jackson
This last year has passed quickly. Now, here I stand in front of the whole pack, taking my Alpha vow. I had hoped to have my mate beside me, but I've not been lucky enough,it's.extermly rare these days that we can sence our fated. most take chosen now as over the decades and the decay we lost that gift. Fea like my mate Thorn never understood what the difference was they don't have true mates. but there's no female in this pack for me. The few that have approached over the last year, there light ribbons , that only I can see. never connected with me. it seemed more like move off power and position for them. we may live by the old rules here in black forest packs, but that doesn't mean we are all pure. still have to be mindful of people's intentions.
I hear the crowd cheer snap my attention back to the present. I see all the golden pack bonds ribbons dance from each member slowly disconnecting from my dad and reaching out for me. each new ribbon that locks , I feel wave of power surge through my body. No wonder Alphas went power hungry. I feel invincible right now.
"ALPHA , ALPHA! the mad king is trying to brake through the death vines at the west boundary line, " a warrior frantically shouted
Fuck not even an hour into my position and trouble starts. I know the vines will hold, and I can feel the Fea warriors working hard to regrow and strengthen them as the mad kings men hack at them.
"Sound the alarm warriors with me, Deltas, to your safe house, guards to your post." My voice comes out steady and calm despite my racing heart,
as I quickly make my way to the boundary line, I can feel unfamiliar eyes on me, watching my movements, glancing around. I can see nothing unusual, just this feeling in my gut, I am been watched and not by a pack member. the sounds of the confrontation infornt of me drags my focus back to present. Thorn comes running the commander of Fea warriors unit. my best friend. he rapidly gives me his report. slams hand on my back
"Well, Alpha, first day and all hell brakes out can nor wait to see what tomorrow brings," Thorn says, smirking.
I feel the eyes on my back again, nothing but shadows behind me when I look. shaking that off feeling off. time to prove I am worthy to protect my pack. I shoot my orders to my men and women, I give Thorn the go ahead as i move towards the death vines, the vines ribbons twitch and recoiling as I draw closer they feel alive connected to my blood. I may not be able to control earth like the Fea but it recognises my blood as the Alpha of this land, it gives me strength same as pack bonds do. ribbons deep green compared the packs golden ones.
the vines open just enough to let me pass freely, I thank them with out thinking about it. the light chuckles of Fea warriors pass my ears. Just ahead of me I see the mad kings Deltas trying everything to brake the death vines few lay dead on blood stain ground. the Deltas look skelington thin, empty and hollow. the line warriors behind them shoving spears in body's covered in cuts, scars years of beatings and neglect.
my heart sinks at the sight. I silently thank the Goddess my mother escaped or this would have been our fates too.
the words leave my mouth before my brain can overthink.
"ANY DELTAS WHO WISHES CAN ASK FOR SANTUARARY" I bellow above the chaos unfolding infront of me
I can feel the shock from my own warriors bonds confusion written on there faces, Dark forest pack has always been extermy strict on allowing strangers in but seeing these poor beaten abused Deltas my instinct to protect has taken over they are not my pack but they didn't deserve this.
I see few Deltas drop to there knees and call out sanctuary. the warriors behind them go to stab them for this betrayal death vines wrap around the Frail Deltas who beg to be saved. encasing then protecting them. I can see the fear and supise written across the faces, the vines clear path for the new Deltas to enter my lands. they are timid but quickly move to what they hope is safety.
before I can register what's happen am looking at point of an arrow held still infront of my eye. I blink hear the gasping warriors around me, the arrow is been held in place by hand I follow it down the arm till my eye rest on a hooded figure covered head to toe in blackest cloak I've ever seen. quickly this figure back is towards my chest. facing out to barren wasteland, the enemy that is now still and silent all of a sudden they start to flee shaking screaming demon as they tuck there tails and run back to where they came from my Biological dad I spot briefly mouth open wide blood red eyes fixed on the figure infront of me. all colour drained from his face. the mad king is afraid of this cloaked figure stood infront of me.
the death vines slam closed out corner my eye I see what looks like a shadow moving gold flecks dance above it, rhymic and I can hear voices whispering not clear enough to make out the words but definitely voices. it's like they see me watching and quickly stop, dissappear. then I pay more attention to the mystery figure who just saved my life..... no ribbons. impossible I think to myself everything has ribbons but the figure infornt of me is soild blackness nothing no light no ribbons. I reach out to touch it, to make sure it real. when as quickly as it appeared it's gone. like the shadows themselves swolled it.
"you should be more careful MATE" sweet soft voice hits my ears that only I can hear.
next thing I know Thorn is gripping my arm tight spinning me to face him.
"what the f**k Brother" Thorn yells
I don't have words to answer him I look and see every warrior frozen staring at me even looking past me to where the figure once stood.
"what, who was that? how did you close the vines? he shoots of questions in rapid frantic voice.
"I didnt!! I thought you must have done it! I quickly reply.
the look on his face tells me everything it wasn't him or any of the Fea it was my mysterious guardian........
