Chapter 20 6.00 p.m. The march was over. One or two snowflakes flitted in the air as its participants began to disband. Some headed away in the direction of King’s Cross, knowing that trains had no intention of altering their timetables to accommodate them. Other local women began to disperse in the directions of their homes, or to grab something to eat and to take stock of the day’s activities. Those who had the resources to stay on overnight filtered off in the direction of the appropriate Tube stations which took them back to their hotels.
