Chapter 23 6.40 p.m. All the other pages beyond were blank, lifeless. David closed the book. He held it tightly to his chest and he cried. Cried for Julia’s baby, taken from her. Cried for whatever had happened to her after her baby went away; all those things she never talked about. Cried for the mess he’d created here this afternoon, in this bedroom that he’d decorated with Julia.
