David wrapped his dressing gown around his body and fished a clean pair of socks out of the drawer. He’d run a bath in a minute, just to warm himself back up. The pain in his stomach was letting him know in no uncertain terms that it was well after dinner time, which was hardly surprising. What did he want? What? Did it really matter? A cuppa. No, sod that, something a lot stronger. He found the whiskey in the top of the kitchen cupboard and poured himself a large mug of the stuff. And another. The third mug made his muscles feel warm and his arms and legs began to feel fuzzy. He slowed down a little and sipped at the yellow-brown liquid. A tingle ran through his nose. He didn’t even like whiskey, he preferred beer, but it had been a present from a workmate so he’d kept it in the cupboard
