David hauled the suitcase back up the ladder, the strong red glow in his memories gradually usurped by the flickering yellow of the torch. He looked across at it. What else had Julia told the invisible baby? The baby that seemed more vivid to her than David did, more alive to her than David who tried to hold her every night and rushed home to be with her every day.
