Chapter Forty-Six
The dawning of a new day didn’t appear to change the situation much, but Darque knew things were rapidly coming to a head.
While the emergency meeting at the UN did not go well for countries in the Western Alliance, smiles were freely exchanged among the belligerents who felt they had control of the situation, and the more convinced they were they had duped the free world, the more comfortable Darque felt. The overconfidence they displayed meant they weren’t considering any interference, and that allowed Darque to continue with his plans.
As he entered Penny’s office, Darque found her and Maria putting the finishing touches on Dragon’s ‘confession’, and they seemed pleased with the results.
“I hope this is what you wanted,” Maria said.
