Chapter Fifty-Four
For the first time in quite a while, Darque, Penny and Bill were able to spend an evening at home away from the Cave, but it was obvious to Penny it wasn’t going to be a relaxed time, and she was concerned about Darque’s morose demeanor.
She had witnessed this kind of mood change in him in the past, and it was never an easy time for her because of the helplessness she felt to do anything to bring him out of it.
Even though they were close, there were times when he became withdrawn and shut out not only her but also everyone he looked upon as a friend. In the past, those events usually occurred when something happened which impact the well-being of those he could felt close to or responsible for.
