Once the two Israeli agents inside Russia received their orders to join the crew of the ‘Bountiful’, a small submarine was dispatched to rendezvous with them in a coastal inlet along the Sakhalin Gulf near the Russian coast.
Although it wasn’t safe to surface in the Sea of Okhotsk because of all the Russian detection equipment in the area, as long as it remained submerged, the captain knew he was relatively immune to detection.
Technology had advanced to the point where the ship was almost invisible, even to sonar, as long as certain precautions were taken … like not colliding with anything.
When the ship reached its designated location, a small point of light from a laser beam on shore was detected through the periscope, and the transfer part of the mission began.
