The two-day wait seemed like an eternity, but the time had finally arrived to meet in the Communication Section to initiate Darque’s response to the impending missile threat. With the aid of intercepted satellite coverage, made possible by a time delay factor programmed into all satellites by personnel in the Cave, the large array of recently installed monitors displayed every aspect of the two launch sites. In addition to the launch sites, the areas where military build-ups were taking place in North Korea, Syria and Lebanon were also being closely watched, as were the points at which indications of intrusions into Israel and South Korea were being exhibited.
