Kevin I know Gia’s feelings better than I know the state council’s address, and still I let myself believe she would grow to love me. Or at least try. Years of chasing her. Years of trying to get her attention, hoping she would finally look my way. And when I finally get her attention, I get pushed aside. No chance to prove myself to her. Fucking stupid. Fucking pathetic, Kevin. I groan and drop my head against the steering wheel, squeezing my eyes shut. Gia is different in every way. She knows what she wants, takes it without apology, and still walks through the world with her head held high. Who wouldn’t love her? I step out of the car and head toward the house, silently hoping my dad isn’t home. The door barely opens before someone yells my name and collides with me full force.
