Gianna Yeah, dinner is over, at least in my head. Barely fifteen minutes in, but it feels like two hours. I snatch the spoon from Kevin’s hands, the chair screeching against the floor as I bolt for the kitchen with the rest of the dishes. Bartending finally paid off, because dropping a dish after my ridiculous performance would have been mortifying. Hell, even now it feels a little embarrassing. I set the dishes in the sink and let out a long breath. I need a minute away from both of them, away from the weight of their eyes. Every day I continue this fake relationship with Kevin, I see new sides to him. Tonight it didn’t feel fake at all. It felt… real. Comforting in a way I'm not ready to admit out loud.
