Chapter 12 Daniella shook her head because their financial situation was the last thing on her mind. She just wanted to make sure her dad was okay. He spent almost his whole career trying to build the company to where it was today and for it to fall in just a few short weeks. It seemed suspicious to her. “And we can just think of this as a fun road trip to a motel,” her mom commented. Daniella silently nodded her head as her parent’s went up to the repossessors. She honestly couldn’t grasp the fact that her dad’s company suddenly flat-lined. She knew they still survived the Global Financial Crisis with only a few people buying their goods. But now? When their profits were starting to rise too? Something was definitely off. However it may be, she decided to focus on what she had to do– which was comfort her parent’s. They were probably in more of a shock than she was. She quickly walked up to them as they discussed minor things with the repossessors and told them she was going to visit Dylan quickly. ‘I at least need to tell Dylan so that he knows I won’t be going out for a little while.’ As she got into her car, she quickly pressed Dylan’s number and waited for the ring. However, minutes passed and Daniella wore a thin line as she tried to dial Daniella’s number but as it kept ringing without an answer, she finally gave in. ‘Why isn’t he picking up?’ She threw her phone into her bag and was about to open the door to her car when one of the repossessors called out to her. She turned and saw how he gave her a sheepish smile. ‘What’s his problem?’ “Sorry, we gotta take the car too,” he said. She widened her eyes and gave a mini-glare, “Then how am I supposed to get around?” He put his hands up defensively and shrugged his shoulders, “Hey, not my problem, missy.” She clicked her tongue and groaned quietly to herself, stepping aside from her car. She stood there isolated for a few seconds, watching as they towed away her car. ‘Whatever, I’ll just take the bus,’ she sighed. Daniella grumbled as she walked to the bus station. Almost forgetting how to take the bus, she was oddly unfamiliar with all the transport systems despite doing this everyday when she was in highschool. When she arrived near Dylan’s house, she gave a light smile, hoping that Dylan would put her in a better mood. She regained some energy for him and quickly started to climb up the stairs and made her way to his floor before hearing the sound of his voice in the distance. There, she saw his friends around him, laughing and cheering about something. Watching them, she had a devilish idea to scare him from around the corner so she hid behind the wall and waited for them while they talked. “–I thought you were on a date with your girlfriend?” “I left right after the movie,” Dylan responded. “Why?” another one of his friends said. “I was getting bored. I mean she’s gorgeous yeah, but she’s isn’t exactly the most thrilling person I’ve dated. I have been with girls who’ve done way more outrageous things with me,” he smirked, “She’s kinda low level.” Daniella raised an eyebrow and was slightly hurt. They weren’t talking about her, were they? Was she really that boring? “Why don’t you just dump her then? Saves you time and money.” “That’s the thing, she’s loaded! Hey, there are girls way more exciting but at least I don’t have to spend a dime going out with her. I just tell her I forget my card and then she’ll pay for me.” “Damn, you got lucky with this one,” one whistled, “Maybe I should also find me a sugar momma.” Daniella heard Dylan laughed and felt a sting in her heart. So she was just a bank for him? All this time she thought he was just being forgetful. She didn’t actually think he was doing it on purpose. Clenching her fists, she bit her lip in anger thinking about all the times that were special for to her but probably not to him. ‘I guess those are meaningless,’ she thought bitterly. Just before the group of boys passed by the wall she was hiding behind, she gathered up all her anger and courage and revealed herself in front of Dylan and his friends. One of them quickly noticed her presence and paused, making the others bump into him. “Oi, what’s wrong with you?” Dylan yelled. The guy who stopped looked at her in shock and pulled Dylan to the front. Dylan yelped but stumbled to the front where he ran straight into Daniella. She instantly saw the dread on his face, realising that she had heard everything. “Uh, hey Daniella? What are you doing here? I thought our date ended?” Daniella rolled her eyes and gave him a dark glare, making him flinch. “Yeah, well you know what else had ended?” Dylan confused, lightly asked. “Wha–” “Our relationship,” Daniella said as she pulled her fist and gave him a hard punch to the face. The floor pounded as the sound of Dylan hit the floor. His friends ‘ooo-ed’ as they watched him fall. Dylan sat up and brought his hand to his nose and a red liquid flowed down his chin as they all realised that his nose was spewing blood. “What the fvck!” he yelled. Daniella smirked and shook her fist, “What? That’s not enough?” “You b!tch,” he snarled, wiping his hand on his shirt, “You know you should be thankful somebody actually wanted to go out with someone as dull as you.” “You’re right! Thank you for teaching me that bastards like you need to be taught a lesson,” she said whilst walking closer to him. Daniella saw how Dylan eyes followed her and before he could ask what she was doing, she gave a hard kick straight to his balls, making his tumble over himself on the floor. His friend cringed and made a pained expression which gave her a sense of accomplishment. Her ex-boyfriend was now kneeling on the floor, doubled over with his hands on his groin, groaning in pain. “Maybe now you won’t be contaminating the population with a$$holes like yourself. Go to hell,” she sneered as she walked away the most satisfied she’s felt in a while.
