Chapter 7
ML's point of view:
Finally, the food trucks have arrived. Zan and I were setting up the tables for the children to eat, along with balloons and flowers on each table. There was a bundle of balloons with various Disney characters tied for the kids, along with a cart of cotton candy and ice cream.
The area behind the hospital looked like a wonder park. We chose to set up here because it's less crowded, and few people know how to get to the back of the hospital. I also spoke with the director to close off the canteen and block the driveway leading here. Of course, we also placed barriers and stationed security guards.
We're inviting all the children inside the hospital, as well as the doctors and nurses. However, not everyone may be able to come due to their duties, so only those with free time might attend. But no worries, we'll send food to everyone inside the hospital, including cleaning staff's, guards, gardeners, and all other workers.
We also plan to send flowers, balloons, and food to every patient in the hospital, which is now being arranged by Zan's staff.
It's now 12:30 p.m., so I approached Zan after finishing setting up the last table.
"Zan, have you informed Ela yet? She might be in the canteen. Our efforts will go to waste," I said seriously.
"Yeah, I got this. I told the director to close the canteen for now. Don't worry, I gave the canteen staff 50k to compensate for the closure," Zan replied with a sudden grin.
"Nice, you're really reliable, bro. But the question is, are they on their way here?" I asked again.
"No, because we're going to them," she said with a laugh.
"Okay, wait, let me change first," I said.
"No, don't."
"What? You're going to let me go out wearing an apron, without my blazer and just a polo shirt?" I said, irritated.
"Yes, actually, I'm planning something. We look cute in these outfits, with teddy bears on our aprons. Let's also bring balloons and hide our faces while walking," she said, grabbing a red marker and playfully touching my nose with it before doing the same to her own nose.
I didn't want to argue because I wanted to see them, and I'm sure Zan isn't stupid enough to use a permanent marker on me. If it were permanent, I'd kick her butt.
Just as they left the children's room and we approached them, we covered our faces with the balloons.
As we got close to them and I still hadn't seen their reaction because of the balloon covering my face, Zan signaled to me, and I lowered the balloon, immediately looking at Ela, who had a surprised expression.
"W-what are you doing here?" she said, but quickly smiled.
"And why are you dressed like that? You guys look so funny," she chuckled.
"Stop, El. Anyway, let's eat with the kids. We've just finished preparing," Zan quickly said with his pleasing eyes.
"Uh, but Brando and Yen already invited us to eat in the canteen with the kids, and our canteen is quite spacious," Yanna said, and I quickly looked at Zan, knowing that the canteen is the only dining area in this hospital. Due to its size, there are no nearby restaurants, shops, or stalls around the hospital areas.
"Not gonna happen," Zan replied with a cold tone colder than dry ice.
I raised my eyebrows when another man spoke up.
"Come on, Ela, the kids are hungry," a man behind Ela said, grabbing her wrist.
Because of this, I didn't hesitate to hook arms with Ela. Zan, on the other hand, immediately hooked arms with Yanna, as she was close to another man. I think she's jealous, just like me, so yup.
"Ah wait a-" Ela was about to speak, but I placed my finger on her lips to silence her, and we walked with them quietly.
While walking, Zan and I felt the presence of the men still there.
"Where are you taking them? It's confusing. I asked Yanna and Ela first," one of the men said, grabbing my shoulder to face them.
"I'm Ela's sister, and Yanna is my-" Zan started but was suddenly cut off. With all the time we had, she had to blush now, how stupid.
"The wonderland for the kids is waiting, and if you don't mind, we'll borrow Ela and Yanna for a while. You can come with us to eat together since Zan and I have prepared a lot," I said calmly, but you could still see in my eyes that I wanted to burn them in front of me.
One of the men was about to respond, but suddenly, a little girl tugged at my hand.
"Sir, can we eat first?" the child said, so cute that it melted my irritated mind.
I picked her up and held her in my arms. I also saw what Zan did; because some kids said they wanted to eat, she carried two children, one on each arm, grinning at me while carrying them. So, I picked up another child for my left side and one for my neck. Zan was about to pick up another child, but Yanna stopped her.
"You guys are like children, that's enough," Yanna said to Zan seriously, though Zan just smiled back, unfazed.
"Why did you carry those three? Make sure you can handle them," Ela scolded me afterward.
After that, we continued walking towards the back of the hospital.
