“We’re here, sweety pie,” I said. “Against all odds, we made it!”
“You’re still in shock, Ollivara,” he said, his dark sapphire gaze roving over me to inspect any injury, but he was the one who was wounded. He was an alpha male to the bone.
I shook my head. “I’m not in shock. I just feel a little high. You have to admit that I was super cool out there. I didn’t even freeze for one second when I saw blood. I didn’t flinch when that nine-foot-tall bear came after me.”
“It was a little over four feet tall,” Jason said mildly.

“You did well, though,” he added. “But even if you’d frozen or had a nervous breakdown in the heat of the battle, it’d be understandable.”
