Chapter 12 Humiliation

1101 Words
I didn’t know why, his lively sound evoked uncontrollable blitheness in me as well to which I grinned, unknowingly leaving all my work and waved at him. “Oh, Lucien, hey,” “Is Roy in his cabin?” He asked sweetly, lifting his hat a little, looking eye-catching as always. “Yeah, but-” “Don't worry, I am allowed to enter whenever I want. You continue working,” Chuckling, he waved his hand as a motion for me to relax and left. “Okay,” Realizing I left everything at his arrival, I chuckled to myself, wondering what was wrong with me and started working again and he even greeted me before leaving. “Hey, I am going back. Have a nice day, Garnet,” “You too, Lucien,” After that small interaction, we continued working and before I knew it, it was the last day of shooting so they could process the banners and promotions. No doubt his place was fascinating and since Mr. Layne was busy and Georgia was getting ready, I was admiring his studio with Lucien. “Do you live here as well?” “Yeah, I have connected my home to my studio. Right past this glass sliding door,” “Wow. How cool,” “I know, right?” He was checking his camera as my eyes were affixed on his arresting features which he obviously noticed and decided to act oblivious to bring butterflies to my stomach. “You are so.. Talented. After this you will prepare for the promotion too,” I whispered, tilting my head to the side, hoping to get his attention. “Do you know? I have build this place with all my heart, Garnet,” He chuckled melodiously, being done with his set up, waiting for Georgia and walked towards me, invading my personal space with his hands in his pockets. “I can see, your passion is in your works, in your studio, it's everywhere,” I replied sheepishly. He hummed, eyes scanning around, “At a certain point, life felt meaningless, abysmal, as if it has no value but here I am,” “You must be so proud of yourself, not everyone is capable of dragging themselves out of darkness,” I whispered, unintentionally taunting myself. “Exactly and look, my dream is here,” He returned a grin, too close that I could feel his minty breath on my face, immobilizing me. Ignorantly, I found myself wrapped in an objectionable web of his emerald eyes. Clutching my shirt, I could feel my heart racing, lips parting as a charm ensnared me and he knew what he was doing. And continued nonetheless. “And if you don't mind, May I ask what is your dream?” “Mine…? Uh… I didn’t think much about it,” I whispered back, body willingly settling in his proximity, without my permission. “Why? Dreams should exist in everyone. That is all people have to cling on, to walk forward after all,” Leaning down to my ears, he whispered temptingly, sending an unstoppably euphoric shiver down my spine. “And if there isn't any yet, I would love to be a part of it, if you create one,” “Lucien…” I called his name affectionately. Placing my hand over his heart, caging my eyes with his gleaming ones as I had zero strength to stop his hex. “What connection do I have with you?” “What connection do you want to create?” He smirked… darkly? My heart skipped a beat, gripping his shirt, drowning in him that was providing my deserted heart a seashore. Which sadly couldn’t last long when I heard a growling from behind, indicating what the f**k I was doing during work. What the hell was wrong with me!? “Enough, Garnet Beth,” He snarl gained attention. Leaving instantly, I turned to Mr. Layne who was glaring outrageously at me. “S-Sir?” Intensity of his anger, probably to find me touching his brother's flare as I stopped before me and pointed his finger contemptibly at me. “Just because we are here doesn't mean you can flirt with my brother.” “Roy, she is not, don’t say this.” Lucien smiled. Placing his hand in between and him defending him enhanced his discontent as he slapped Lucien’s hand away. “Is she not? I believe we all can see she is.” “Why don't you try to be professional and control your lust for my brother, Miss Garnet?” He hissed. Glaring at me and upon the eyes on me, I was stiff, feeling humiliated when they whispered to each other. I got so lost in Lucien that I forgot he was Dream, Lucien Layne, the billionaire, the man of high society and I was nowhere near them. “Sir, please I am not-” “Enough, Miss Beth, don't try to hide your intentions but I am warning you here openly. Don't come near him again,” In Mr. Layne’s words, I found my worth in their mighty world, it was puerile of me to attach hopes from Lucien, I almost forget that. And his rage made it clear. Suppressing my tears, I lowered my head shamefully after I had seen my place. “I understand, This won’t happen again, Sir,” “Apologize,” He demanded seriously. “I am sorry,” And then he snapped his fingers twice, pointing at the door coldly. “Go,” “What?” “Go and wait outside,” He ordered strictly. “Enough, Roy, why be so harsh with her? She is only fascinated,” Lucien interrupted to which he hissed. “She is my assistant, she obeys my order. Don’t you, Garnet Beth?” When his glare stopped on me, my heart skipped a beat, demanding complete obedience from me. Afraid of his dangerous glance and the consequences, I nodded hastily. He was my Boss after all, there was nothing I could do. “Y-yes, I apologize for the inconvenience,” Whispering weakly, a tear unwillingly rolled down my cheek as my steeps retreated and after gaining humiliation, I left. Standing outside in the cold, near his car as they continued the shoot. “What did I do wrong? Stop his brother too but no, I am the gold-digger,” I wiped my tears roughly, hitting the nearby wall furiously, cursing that stone-cold man in my heart. ‘I did the right thing by slapping him. He deserved that! He is an asshole!’
