The age of sword and sorcery.

"I'm itching to punch someone!" The tall brunette fumed as she paced about the small clearing, her dark skin glistening in the moonlight.
A girl with red hair sat stoking the embers of the fire that once was, a bow slung across her back and a boy in full armour lounged lazily beside her.
Cool breeze blew past the spot they'd made their own, carrying fallen leaves as it moved. Behind them, the lights of their camp was barely distinguishable. Laughter pulsed through the trees occasionally, and loud chatter always followed.
"You'll probably get to go when there's something really serious going on" the red haired said, still watching the smoke.
"Yh" the boy added "Master is probably saving you for much bigger things. No use wasting your time on small things like goblins and giants"
"To be honest,"the pacing stopped "I couldn't care less if it was a fae or a sprite at this point. What are they even doing up there?"
Slow Footsteps resounded through the forest floor, moving towards them. He stepped into the light, leaning casually against a tree, a small smile on his face as blue eyes watched her. All three watched him as well but She looked impassively, arms crossed over her chest in disapproval.
"Where have you been?"
"Did you miss me?"
"I couldn't care less if you'd been devoured or captured" she scoffed
"So you did"
"I should break your nose to fix that stupid smirking face"
"You can try. But last I remember you weren't able to beat me in a fight"
"But I do remember beating you, a lot more than once"
"Should have realized by now that I go easy on you. It's not my fault my strength greatly overpowers yours"
She tilted her head"Your excuse for losing countless times is pathetic. Why dont we settle this.
He folded his arms " I'm listening"
"I win, you give me the respect and honour i deserve. And never challenge me again. And also refer to me as Lady Lord Supreme"
He laughed
"And if I win-"
She gave him another smile "if you win, well what do you want?"
He smiled and stepped into the clearing.
Lua started with a gasp. The thunder of noise crashed into her immediately
"-where do you think he's from?" Al was saying. She groaned internally, taking in her environment slowly, her mind already erasing the content of whatever it was she had seen.
Al turned to face her best friend and frowned
"Are you spacing out on me again?"
She turned to face her.
"Are you asking the same question for the hundredth time today again"
"You cant blame me-"
" I blame you-"
"It's not everyday someone as beautiful as that appears and protects your best friend from the guy she was beating up. Its Kdrama worthy."
"Firts of all he didnt protect me. I could have handled it and second of all he's not that fine. Dont overhype it."
"Speak for yourself."
Lua rubbed her neck reflexively, remembering what had happened not so long ago. It was still pretty shocking, not that she couldnt take a hit but that she'd been careless.
"Who knew Zac had that much grit in him?"
Her best friend flipped through her textbook"It was bound to happen some day"
"Yh" Should have broken his finger, she thought.
Mr Park had arrived a few minutes ago and was immediately explaining on the board, but Lua was just not following. She'd already studied it though. But the extra knowledge wouldnt hurt. Cal from two seats up raised his hand.
"Lua!" Al whispered harshly, immediately grabbing her bestfriend's arm.
"What-?!" Lua asked stunned. Aysel was always doing stuff like this. Giving her unnecessary anxiety. She tried to pry the slender fingers off her arm, But Al only came on stronger.
"Something just came to me!"
She looked at her, then at the rest of the class. The lecture was still going on at the front. Mr Park had entered into the basics of Petroleum chemistry.
"What is it?! And why does it involve me getting hurt?"
Al learned closer
"We have to thank him!"
"What has gotten into you?!" She whispered back, increasing the effort on detaching her arm. Lots of people were giving them curious looks now.
"Al. Al let go!" she chided
"Will you thank him?" She whispered back, bringing her face even closer
"What?"
"Say thank you"
"I dont want to!"
"Well you have to!"
"But I dont want to!"
"Stop being stubborn. Be grateful. "
"Why?!"
"Cause it's the right thing to do, duh!"
"Why do I have to do the right thing?!"
"Cause you're a good person!"
"Hang on-"
A loud cough echoed through the surprisingly quiet class, bringing them both back. All eyes stared at them imtently including Mr Park's.
"Is this a conversation we should be part of?" He asked.
"I'm afraid not sir" she said "It is trifling in this course of Chemistry"
" Miss Addammes,". He looked at her. "Just because you're the brightest student in the school does not mean you are permitted to disturb my class."
She gave a small nod "Sorry sir"
He turned to Al. "You Miss Grey-"
"I'll make sure to ask Lua to explain" she said quickly, flashing a small smile
"Still" he said, fixing his glasses "try to be a little quieter"
"Yes sir"
"And Miss grey-"
"Yes sir?"
"Let go of her arm". She let go. The rest of the class went on like nothing had happened. And Lua scooted a full meter away from her best friend.

Two hours later and the bell rang, sending the class onto a flurry of motion. Lua grabbed her messenger bag and stood, waiting for Al to finishing packing up.
"Let's go!" She said when she was done, already leading the way.

Dawn moved slowly through the crowd, ignoring all the attention he was getting. His hood top had fallen, so dirty blonde hair fell over his eyes, bringing to notice the other intriguing features of his face. Still, he wasn't the only one with commendable beauty. Sol stood to the side, only an inch taller than him with short black hair, intelligent green eyes and a handsome face. Dawn had the boyish features.
His best friend sucked on an icecream pouch.
"Since when are you the defender of the weak?"
Dawn smiled at the memory of a few hours ago.
"We both know she's nowhere near weak"
"What happened to keeping a low profile though?"
"You basically murdered the definition of low profile when you wore those pants to school"
Sol looked down at his trousers
"What? They were the only clean pair I had"
"Try doing your laundry"
His friend went back to sucking on the pouch.
Together they stepped through the doors of the cafeteria, where their new classmates flirted, teased, taunted and argued with one another. But Dawn looked forward to only seeing one person.

An endless flurry of activity filled her sights as Lua stepped into the cafeteria. She grimaced at all the pushing and the shoving and most of all the noise. It gave her a headache.
"Let's go get our lunch!". Al said as she grabbed her hand and pulled her behind her.
A few minutes later, they stood together holding identical trays.
"I dont see a place to sit". Lua said looking around "We should just leave". The air buzzed with cacophony and it was getting a lot harder to even see anything with all the colours and outfits.
"Hang on. I see a place". Al smirked, dragging her friend.
They moved quietly around people, carefully stepping over fallen food and avoiding being elbowed by laughing students. A few watched them walk, eyeing them conspicuously.
A small table crowded with girls came into view. Alot of the noise was emanating from there and nearby tables sat watching. Lua wondered what all the commotion was about. Didn't people have better things to do than stand around and talk?
"That's not a free table". She frowned. Her best friend who moved towards it however with fierce determination.
"What are you doing?" She whispered, following closely but looking around carefully. Half of the guys, she noticed, were staring daggers at the table.
"Just come on" came the response.
Two boys sat behind the table, definitely the center of all the attention. No doubt everyone within looking proximity was looking. Lua's frown deepened as she moved closer. This, was what everyone was making all the fuss about?
The somewhat taller one smiled quietly to everyone as they barraged them with questions, while the other one slowly ate fries off his plate.
"-so you actually grew up in the States?" A girl in an impossibly tight skirt was asking, her voice an octave higher than normal. Lua scoffed.
"That's enough people!" Al was saying, shoving them aside to get through. 'Heys' and 'watch it' erupted around the table. Lua smirked at her best friend's work. "The show's over!. Go back to your seats. These are human beings, not animals on display. So shoo".
"What's your problem, Grey?" A slender girl with blonde hair was asking frowning. Stacy."You out of your mind or something?"
"Actually no. I have a reservation at this table.". She dropped her tray on the table to make her point. Sol watched her quietly. Everyone else looked stunned.
"Wheres Addammes? You're feeling unstopoable just cause you hang out with her now? " Another girl with chestnut curls snapped to her side
"Actually she's right there" She smiled, pointing to Lua standing off at the back. All eyes slowly turned to notice her and she waved. The other boy looked up too.
"You're lucky noone here likes to pick fights like you and your bodyguard". Stacy said a little too louder so as to seem righteous for the new students. "Let's go!" She ordered, swinging her hips in departure with more effort than was required. The crowd around the table slowly began to disperse, a lot of muttering and glaring involved.
The usual cacophony of activity resumed as Al plopped down at the table. Lua, though sceptical about this interaction, placed her tray down beside her best friend and sat as far away as possible from the boy with the blue eyes.
The taller boy leaned forward a little as Al bit into her sandwich.
"Is this a daily routine for you? Fighting with girls? They all seem to really hate you"
She looked at him as if in shock. "Of course not" she waved her hand about "I dont go around fighting with girls for a living. I'm not sexist. No gender is exempt".
The edge of Sol's lips tugged.
"And i dont pick fights either. Lua does the fight picking. I was gonna let her handle this".
A string of unspoken profanities spurred through Lua's mind as she ate.
"I guess I should thank you for saving us" Blue eyes smiled, watching her.
"Not me" she looked at him properly for the first time. "Al"
"Al?"
Al started "Where are my manners?"
"You dont have any" Lua muttered.
"I'm Aysel"she introduced to the duo. "And this"she gestured to her best friend "is Luan"
"Lua"her best friend corrected.
"What she said"
The boy on low cut nodded "I'm Sol. And this is Dawn". Blue eyes smiled "Hello".
