Chapter 2Saturday was wrap-up day for the yearly conference. Each of the vice presidents got their chance to impress higher management with their commitment to the company’s mission and to praise the minions for our support. Since we’re an import company who supplied small goods to large box stores which sold their wares online and in dollar stores, today was when the VPs gave us loyalty gifts. Fortunately, for the first time since this arcane practice started, one of the veeps handed out fabric bags, so we had somewhere to pack away all the loot and carry it to our offices or cars. After wishing my last coworker a happy break during the company’s mandated week off, I stuffed my overflowing bag into the back seat of the Jetta and jumped in.
