Chapter 15

501 Words
As she walked back to the ballroom alone she noticed Connor and a blonde she-wolf kissing each other, her body pressed against a tree with her legs wrapped around his waist. She hurried quietly passed hoping they were too engrossed in each other to notice her. A big part of Rose was happy for Connor, she knew he had wanted to find his mate, and she had been preparing herself for the day he found his mate from the first time they were together, but she couldn’t help feeling a tiny bit of jealousy that he was with his mate. He had found her and they had both been happy to be together. She slipped back into the ballroom to the dangerously deep ocean eyes of her mate. She could feel Astrid trying to take control and walk her over to him but she had other things to do. It would have to wait. She was an Alpha she couldn’t get carried away and claim her mate in front of everyone. She closed her eyes breaking the connection, turned to the closest group of people and began apologising about her late arrival. “Rose. It’s so good to see you again.” A deep voice from her past exclaimed. s**t. What was he doing here. “Is it?” Rose asked. “Certainly. Congratulations.” “Thank you.” Rose added. “I have a lot of people to speak to tonight. Help yourself to drinks and food and have a safe journey home.” “Rose.” He scolded. “There’s no need to be so rude.” “I think there is.” She replied. Her last memory of him plagued her thoughts. She didn’t mean to be rude but she really had nothing nice to say to him. Someone carried a tray of champagne and Rose grabbed two glasses, downed the first and started sipping the second. She could smell the intoxicating scent of her mate in the room and feel his eyes on her as she spoke to her guests. “You haven’t brought your Luna I see.” She questioned the Alpha. “No. I didn’t. I would like to talk to you alone if I may? I think we have a lot to talk about.” “I’m sorry, I’m very busy. There are a lot of people here I need to speak to so I must excuse myself.” Rose explained walking away from the group and towards the next Alpha. She spoke to guest after guest, not daring to look in the direction of her mate for even a second fearing she would drown in his eyes. Astrid was wild enough already, jumping around in her head like an excited pup. Finally when she felt like she had spoken to everyone she needed to, everyone except her mate, she allowed herself and Astrid a chance to look around the room for him, they found him easily stood talking with her Beta and Gamma.
