I walked through the rainy night along the Crescent Bay Street.
Cold.
Damp.
My clothes clings to my body like leash, hair disheveled, and dirty feets stained with mud.
A car passed by splashing water on me.
"Hey, what gave you the right to do that" I said as I tried to chase the car, I fell down.
"Arrh" Oh, now I hurt my elbow. well I guess luck isn't for people like me. Poor orphans.
I stood up from the muddy grounds, clutching the little bag I used in gathering the my remain clothes.
As I stood up to leave, I realized I am standing in front of a huge iron gate.
But, something caught my gaze.
'Notice; House staff needed'
My expression grew bright. finally.
without thinking, I rushed to the gate and ran g the bell.
I have been knocking for almost two minutes now, I almost lost hope. turning my back to leave, I heard the gate open.
Standing in side the house is a man probably in his late forties, with an umbrella. He scanned my appearance from head to toe.
"Are you here for the job" He asked looking at me with an expressionless face.
"Good day, Yes, I am here for the job" I said with smile plastered on my face even though I don't feel like it.
"Okay then, why not step in" He said as a he made way for me to step in
I wasn't expecting this but wow, the view of this house or more so mansion captivated me.
It looks more like a fortress.
The mansion stood like a kingdom built for a king who feared no one. Perched on a vast estate hidden behind towering black iron gates, it radiated power, wealth, and danger from every angle.
The gates alone were a masterpiece, forged from solid steel and adorned with intricate designs that spoke of old money and unquestionable authority. Armed guards stood at strategic points, their sharp eyes scanning every movement, ensuring that only those granted permission could step foot inside.
Beyond the gates stretched a long driveway paved with polished black stone. Rows of perfectly trimmed cypress trees lined both sides, standing tall like silent soldiers guarding the path to their ruler. Elegant lanterns cast a warm golden glow across the road, creating an atmosphere that was both breathtaking and intimidating.
The compound itself was massive, covering acres of pristine land. Exotic flowers bloomed in carefully designed gardens, their vibrant colors contrasting beautifully against the dark elegance of the estate. Marble fountains stood proudly in the center of the courtyard, crystal-clear water cascading gracefully into shimmering pools below. The soothing sound of flowing water blended with the soft rustling of leaves, creating a deceptive sense of peace.
Luxury cars worth millions were parked neatly beneath a custom-built pavilion. Sleek black Rolls-Royces, Lamborghinis, Bentleys, and armored SUVs reflected the moonlight like polished jewels. Every vehicle hinted at the immense wealth possessed by the man who lived there.
The mansion itself was a breathtaking sight.
Built from a combination of white marble, black granite, and floor-to-ceiling glass panels, it rose majestically against the sky. Massive pillars framed the entrance, while elegant balconies wrapped around the upper floors. The architecture perfectly blended modern sophistication with timeless luxury, creating a residence fit for royalty.
At the front entrance, a grand staircase made of imported Italian marble led to enormous double doors carved from rare mahogany wood. The doors were accented with gold details, adding another layer of extravagance to the already magnificent structure.
To one side of the compound lay a private helipad, while the other housed a luxurious outdoor lounge overlooking a breathtaking infinity pool. The pool's surface sparkled like liquid diamonds beneath the sunlight, surrounded by comfortable cabanas and palm trees imported from distant countries.
At night, the entire estate transformed into something almost mythical. Thousands of hidden lights illuminated the mansion, casting a golden glow over the marble walls and reflecting beautifully against the fountains and pools. From a distance, it looked less like a home and more like a palace belonging to an untouchable mafia emperor.
Every brick, every pathway, every carefully placed flower whispered the same message:
Power.
Wealth
Control.
And anyone who stepped through those gates immediately understood one thing—this was not merely a mansion. It was the fortress of a man whose name commanded respect, fear, and absolute obedience.
"Miss, are you okay"
A voice jolted me out of my thoughts
"Yes I am perfectly fine" oh no, I guess he must have caught me staring.
"The boss is not back from work yet; he said as we arrived at the front door.
We stepped into the room and I guess I am about to land into another trace but I think I wouldn't.
"This way please" he said gesturing me upstairs
As we took a step by step climb up the stairs.
"You will be appointed your work duties soon and that is if the boss accepts you"
He pursed, then continues "there are rules you should know; this mansion is of three stories, rooms on the first floor are for the servants, the third floor are for the visitors and some family members and the second floor which is of limit is where the boss stay, and remember; he stopped in his tracks
I looked at him confused
"You are not to go to the boss room, unless authorized by him to do so" he said.
"This is the workers quarters, I will assign you a place to change for now; he points to a door at the corner "you will be called down in thirty minutes time, and do not be late" he said sternly and walked downstairs the stairs
"Jeez, dose he smile at all" I said as I walked into the room.
Well, not too bad, at least there's a bed and few small cushions to sleep and seat on.
