Sabrina's POV
Wait? Did he just ask me to marry him? This is the beginning of our meeting. Is marriage that funny for her. I'm not interested in it anyway.
"Are you kidding?" I showed displeasure when he spoke to me. In fact, his words made me even more breathless.
I was actually really surprised by what Caleb said. I couldn't believe that he would say something like that to me.
I exhaled in annoyance. Afterward, I chose to turn my face away. Just because he has a position in the Jones family doesn't mean he can talk as he pleases. Doesn't he know that my heart is still tight right now?
"No." After a while, Caleb spoke up.
I immediately looked back at him. And this time, I could catch the glint in his eyes. And I knew that he was filled with seriousness. He even said it very calmly. As if he was wholly innocent or forced.
Seeing his expression right now makes me unable to think clearly. I don't know how he could offer such a thing to me.
I didn't realize that I was looking at him very intensely. Our gazes are clashing. The more I look at him, the more I see that he's not saying it under duress.
. "This isn't funny, Caleb." The words were almost a whisper. I felt a lump in my throat.
I swallowed hard. "Besides, you know that I'm Daniel's ex-fiancée." I emphasized that to Caleb. I hoped he hadn't forgotten that.
Caleb was still looking at me intensely, but this time, he brought his face closer to me. In a situation like this, my heart is beating fast. I don't even know what he's thinking right now.
As his face came closer, I could feel the tremendous pressure from the look in his eyes. "I'm always serious."
My breath caught. As Daniel used to say, Caleb was a cold and cruel man. Even he always wants to get what he wants.
Before I could say anything, Caleb grabbed my hand. His attitude made me even more depressed. "So what if you're Daniel's ex-fiancée?"
I quickly withdrew my hand from Caleb's grip. I wasn't going to let him push me around just to fulfill his desires. Besides, I didn't know what his intentions were. And accepting Caleb's request could have been a better decision.
I quickly shook my head, "no. Stop that nonsense." I gave an affirmation.
I tried to distance myself from Caleb, not wanting to look into his stern eyes. But I decided he needed to know something before going too far. "I just miscarried Daniel's child."
"I know that." Caleb answered quietly.
Knew it? How could he know that? Once again, I saw the seriousness in his words. I didn't even know any surprise on his face. And Caleb's answer actually surprised me.
Caleb's answer this time reminded me of what he said before, knowing that I hadn't fully recovered. Wait a minute, has he been stalking me secretly all this time? This can't be!"
This time, I looked at Caleb with vigilance. He's been very attentive since just now, which invites suspicion in me. I was sure that Caleb had other intentions. "What exactly is your intention?"
"I'm pretty sure you have other intentions, because there's no way you'd just ask me to marry you." I pressed him a little, wanting him to admit it.
Caleb showed his calm face, and this time, he slightly distanced his face from me. "I actually need a fake bride."
"I need to get one right away, and I feel as if you're the perfect woman for it." Caleb revealed his purpose, but this made me a little upset.
His words made my heart beat fast. I was really offended by everything he said. My heart had just broken, and he was offering something crazy.
I shook my head quickly. "I can't do that!"
Caleb leaned closer to me again. This time, the look in his eyes seemed different. They were warmer without any suppression. Even slower, he touched my hand again and squeezed it gently. At the same time, my heart raced.
"Sabrina, I'm sure you won't leave Daniel alone." Daniel emphasized his sentence.
Caleb's words made me pause. I need to consider Caleb's words. But by marrying Caleb, is it possible? I couldn't decide quickly at the moment.
Caleb didn't remove his hand from me. For the rest, the look in his eyes was more robust. "That man has ruined you. And don't you need a partner stronger than Daniel?"
I, who had previously averted my gaze, now stared at Caleb firmly. And before I could decide or say anything, he spoke again, "You should know if I'm the one."
I don't know whether I should consider Caleb's words. But as far as I know, Daniel has always believed that Caleb is his rival. Daniel always wanted to beat Caleb, but he failed to do so.
Caleb shifted his position, and our distance is very close now. His attitude made me stand still. I could see Caleb's jungle body leaning towards me. I closed my eyes, unable to accept his attitude.
Until now, I felt him leaning closer to my ear. "You have to accept me." his voice was a whisper but full of emphasis.
Our bodies are still so close that I can also smell the perfume, which is very fragrant. Of course, this reminded me of something that I had missed so much.
I immediately moved my body away from Caleb. Continuing to be in a situation like that certainly makes me nervous. And I didn't want Caleb to notice. "I have to think about it. I need time." I didn't want to look at him right now. Deciding all of that needs a lot of consideration.
"Sabrina, I don't have much time. You must give me your decision." This time, it was Caleb who urged me.
I nervously looked up at his face, and a feeling of doubt filled my heart. "Give me one week." I wasn't sure, but I needed that short time.
In his eyes, I could see displeasure. "Tomorrow. I'm waiting for your answer tomorrow. You should have already decided."
After saying that, he immediately stood up to straighten his suit. Even he quickly walked away from me before waiting for my answer.
My gaze was unbroken from Caleb. His retreating back still made me nervous. I bit my own fingers. "Tomorrow. How can I decide so soon?" realizing this, my head throbbed painfully. What should I decide?
I don't know why time is spinning so fast. Even though the day has passed, I still can't decide on Caleb's offer. My chest keeps pounding as I think about it.
In the middle of this, the door to the room suddenly opened. I became scared. Caleb came in, but I haven't yet made a decision.
I turned around and wanted to ask Caleb for time, but this time I was surprised. It wasn't Caleb, but Daniel who came. How could he be here?
I immediately stood up from my place, until I saw Daniel walk over and immediately push me. His gaze was filled with hatred. This is a very different gaze. I really don't see Daniel's feelings of love for me anymore.
"What have you done? You really are a very rude woman. I can't believe you could do that," he shouted loudly in front of me. I no longer heard his soft, loving voice.
He raised his hand and put his index finger right in my face. "Don't expect me to marry you. I've decided our relationship is completely over.
I don't know what made hi, come in such a rage. But I was immediately convinced that that damn woman was a bad influence.
Daniel left immediately without waiting for any response from me. My heart broke even more. He had really changed. Did our four years together mean nothing to him?
I didn't even realize when these tears fell.
Right at that moment, Caleb came over and touched my wet cheeks. He even wiped and dried it. I accepted him. For the rest, I looked at him sternly. "I accept your proposal."
