Freya’s POV Ezren turned away from me and tossed a pebble into the water. Ripples traveled over the pool's surface, distorting his and my reflection. There was a lethal calmness in his eyes peering from the water. “What are you doing here? Why aren’t you with your wolf?” I said, finding him vaguely disturbing. A shadow of annoyance crossed his face. “You shouldn’t be here,” was all he said. I didn’t know what caused this sudden mask of indifference. I gave him a hostile glare.
