Annie wore an oversized, shiny red leather jacket on their road trip to St. Paul. She wore jean capris, a white tank, and black and white Converse sneakers. Mark smiled when he picked her up in their car after work. This was a respite from their jobs as police officers, though it later would prove to be beneficial in their investigation. No one said a girl couldn’t take a break, Annie thought. Mark’s friend Jon lived in St. Paul, Alberta. He worked in law enforcement there for the Alberta Police. Wouldn’t hurt to get another opinion. Annie’s favorite author, Eileen Schuh, lived in St. Paul as well. She would pick up a new book while there, maybe get it autographed. An exciting day ahead, away from the humdrum of everyday life! “That’s my girl,” Mark said proudly as she slid into the sea
