I leaned back against the door with my eyes closed for a moment. My chest heaved as I tried to suck in calming breaths and will my heart beat to calm. As I settled, I opened my eyes to see Ezra crossing the room toward me.
“Are you okay, Little One? You look upset,” Ezra said.
“I’m fine. I just came to get a couple of things for tonight. Mateo is taking me on a date,” I confessed.
“Are you sure you’re alright, Vanessa? You seem out of sorts,” he replied, stepping closer.
I couldn’t help my reaction, and tears began to stream down my face. “What is wrong, my precious little wolf? Who hurt you? I’ll kill whoever it is,” he hissed, pulling me into his arms.
