Su Yan's eyes flashed a cold light as the phone in her hands lit up with an incoming call, her bestfriend's name flashing in bold letters as the caller. If she could remember vividly, this was the time that green tea b***h asked to "borrow" her jade bracelet, under the guise of her birthday party.
Su Yan, who treated Qin Shi like a sister at that time and held no hostility towards her, lent her the bracelet despite being wary at first. The jade bracelet was her family's heirloom, passed down from the Su elder's down to her generation.
However, Qin Shi pestered her for days on end, even squeezing out crocodile tears and subtly accusing her of disliking herself because she was an orphan. Su Yan had always treated Qin Shi well. Under the guise of sisterly-affection, she was fooled and gave up her family's heirloom.
However, even after ten years in the apocalypse, she never saw the bracelet again. Only in her last moments of life did she realize that Qin Shi's actions were deliberate.
Qin Shi deliberately borrowed the bracelet after having nagging dreams about it. Upon getting her hands on the jade, she had an instinct to drip her blood in it; opening up a magical space. Although the time in it was not completely static, it was a hidden space where supplies can be concealed and taken wherever she went. She was more excited than as if she was injected with chicken blood, crazily stocking up goods.
Su Yan would not have known of such a phenomenon if not for Qin Shi herself. When everything was said and done, Qin Shi looked at her battered and sickly form with an arrogant sneer; monologuing about her own strength and prowess amid the scarcity of supplies and the bleak state of the world. Qin Shi admitted to having disliked her for being an heiress, talking about how she secretly despised Su Yan and only used her for her money. Qin Shi was an orphan herself— so she never felt ashamed of taking Su Yan's things and regarding them as her own.
Not only was she not satisfied with the way Su Yan had treated her all their years in college, she never thought of them as enough. All the high end clothes Su Yan had, she never slighted Qin Shi; Even her food and job was provided for by Su Yan who helped every way she could. Qin Shi was never grateful and sneered secretly in her heart while acting coquettishly and hanging off her arm like a sister. All this time, Su Yan thought that she was genuine.
Qin Shi finally showed her true colors when Su Yan was beaten down and weak. Her "good" sister also admitted to paying a couple men to humiliate her with the promise of packaged noodles, which were scarce in the end times. Su Yan fought back until she was only worth half her strength, dealing with the delinquints. In the end, she suffered a lame arm which greatly reduced her chances of survival in this chaotic world.
What truly broke Su Yan down was when Qin Shi admitted to plotting her brothers' deaths. It was supposedly an accident while gathering supplies in the outside— but how could her brothers, who both had special abilities be torn down easily as such? It took the combined strength of two teams to take down the Su brothers. The reward for their demise was generous, Qin Shi said with a feigned heartbreak expression.
It was apparent that Qin Shi had planned to end her life there; but Su Yan would never go down without a fight after such a revelation. She detonated a grenade, taking both her and the wanton b***h into the afterlife.
Su Yan would never forget the humiliation she suffered in the apocalypse. Fighting for scraps of food, the horrid stentch of zombies and the pain of betrayal and loss... She could never forgive Qin Shi in this life or the next.
Su Yan lets the phone stop ringing, and glanced at the beautiful bracelet on her pale wrist. She cut her finger with a scissors, and let her blood drip into the jade. She was then, taken into another world with blue skies and green grass; a lake filled with water in the distance. The space was boundless and it's end could not be seen.
Su Yan was now bound into her space. It originally belonged to her, so this was considered as taking back her own belongings. She thought of leaving her space, and she magically returned into her own room.
In this life, she would live well despite the apocalypse. She would treat her brothers well. She would make sure everyone she loves and love her in return will be safe and protected.
Su Yan's first act would be to eliminate the evidence of her spatial abilities. It would be too eye-catching for her bracelet to be out in the open like now. In her mind, something had told her she could break the bracelet to ensure that nobody could rob it from her. So, without further hesitation, Su Yan smashed the bracelet in the wall and watched it break into pieces.
Anyways, she was already bound to the space. She could enter and leave it at will. Nobody will take away her precious things now.
Time to stock up supplies!
