Leo left Lennon with Mac and then mounted the ladder, his nose crinkling as his head rose up into space, but when he saw the young woman he gasped, his eyes going wide. Leo had served as an army medic for a few years, much to their father’s dismay, and now nothing phased him, but Thane could tell this one.
“It’s silver,” Thane said unnecessarily as Leo came to his side, squatting down to inventory the damage his eyes now hard.
“They stitched it into her!” Leo growled, his voice incredulous and more angry than Thane could remember hearing it before. His own anger made him shake in response. “Take care of her,” he growled, making his way back down the ladder to where Lennon stood still pinned against the wall by Mac, a few of his thugs on the stairs watching.
Thane didn’t hesitate, he hauled off and punched Lennon in the face as hard as he could. There was the crack of splintering bone from Lennon, but he only let out a low growl spitting blood.
“Why?!” Thane screamed, taking Lennon from Mac and raising him towards the ceiling with one hand clenched in his shirt.
“Does it matter?” Lennon snarled, glaring at him.
Thane was trembling with rage and the effort it was taking him not to rip Lennon’s throat out then and there. Rowan howled and paced in the back of his mind, furious, but also anxious to get back to the girl.
Thane, I need metal cutters. Leo’s mind-link cut through his rage and he snarled the words “metal cutters” at the lackeys on the stairs. To his utter fury, they looked at Lennon, who gave a slight nod before one of them disappeared to retrieve them. When they arrived, Mac took them up to Leo, while Thane kept Lennon pinned to the wall.
“This is it, Lennon! The last infraction you will ever make!” Thane threatened. He felt torn between his rage at Lennon and his overpowering need to go to the female’s side. To protect her and see that she was alright. “I should kill you for this!”.
Lennon glared at him with cold, dead eyes, not bothering to respond. Thane had him by the throat now, pressing hard enough that if he struggled too much it would be a simple thing to snap his neck. But leaving him room to breathe. A sound caught Thane’s attention. Mac at the top of the stairs to the attic.
“We need to bring her down. Leo says he can’t treat her here. The wounds aren’t healing because of the silver and she’s losing too much blood.
Lennon didn’t respond, but Thane’s eyes narrowed at him anyway. “You’re lucky I value her life more than I do ending yours, but mark my words. This isn’t over,” he snarls, letting go of Lennon to be ready to help Mac and Leo lower the female into his arms. He cradles her gently and Rowan howls. Mate! Thane’s shocked, but hides it. He continues to cradle her gently as Mac and Leo make it down the attic stairs.
