Chapter 3 (Lucas & Sienna)

949 Words
Lucas P.O.V I take off running in the same direction my mate went. I can smell her, almost feel her fear. Why? Why is she so afraid? I have a million questions for her. I just need to find her first. Where could she have gone? As I sniff around to find a lead, one smell caught my attention. In the forest! She’s got to be in there! I run as quickly, but as quietly as possible. I don’t want to scare her. Finally, I see her. She’s sitting down next to a tree and got her head in between her knees.  She seems to be struggling to breathe. I hear her whisper to herself. “What am I going to do now?” She lifts her head to the sky as if praying for something. I notice a tear falling down her cheek. No! No no no no no!!! Why is she crying?! Does she hate it that much that I’m her mate? I slowly take a step closer. “Sienna?” Her head whips up so fast I almost think she broke her neck. But what get me most is the fear in her eyes. She tries getting up and make another run for it but this time, I get in her way. “Please! Wait up! Just give me a few minutes to talk, please!?” She looks so panicked and unsure of what to do. She looks around for a way to escape from here with so much fear in her eye.  I lift my hand to move the hair out of her eyes, but she flinches. My heart hurt seeing her so scared of me.  Putting my hand back down, I ask gently again. “Please…only a few minutes. I promise, I’m not going to hurt you, I would never. You can trust me!” She looks like she’s debating with herself, or maybe her wolf if she should trust me. But then she takes in a long, deep breath. “I can’t, I’m sorry.” She says to me, as the tears fall down her cheeks, she runs away. This time, I don’t run after her. It hurts me not to, but she might need time to process all this. From the bruises on her face, she has gone through something possibly traumatic and I don’t want to push her.  I already feel so strongly for her. If time is what she needs, for now, I’ll give it to her. I just hope she’ll give me the time of day soon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sienna's P.O.V. Why? Why did I have to find him today of all day?! The one day I pray to the moon goddess to have a peaceful day… what have I ever done to deserve all this?   “Sienna?” I whip my head up so fast, startled by someone saying my name. I thought I was alone in the forest. Oh no! Lucas… He followed me here! I have to run. I have to get away from him. Even if part of me, a strong part, wants me to jump into his arms and never let go. I get up fast to try and run away, but he stops me, putting himself in front of me. “Please! Wait up! Just give a few minutes to talk, please!?” He must have seen the panicked and unsure look on my face. I see him lifting his hand toward my face. His gesture making my heart race in panic. He’s going to hit me for running away! I flinch from fear, but nothing happens. The look in his eyes, he seems so hurt by my action. He slowly puts his hand back down. “Please…only a few minutes. I promise, I’m not going to hurt you, I would never. You can trust me!” Can I really trust him?   ‘You better keep that ugly face of your covered up! If anyone finds out, you’ll regret it!’ My mothers’ words from this morning come back to me… I have to leave. My heart wants to break, but I have to run away from him. Tears fall down my cheeks. “I can’t, I’m sorry,” I say as I take off running. I have to get away from him.  If my mother finds out someone saw my bruised face…that I found my mate…that he’s our future Alpha… She’s going to kill me for sure! By the time I arrive home, it’s only 2 pm. I wish it took me longer to get home.   Please let her not be home right now…please moon goddess…please, just this once, hear me and help me… I get in as quickly and quietly as possible. Stopping for a moment to listen, I don’t hear anything. I let out a sigh of relief and walk up the stair. Suddenly, I hear a creaking sound, making me livid. “What the hell are you doing home so early?” Oh, no…. goddess no…. I turn around slowly to face my mother. “I…I…I w-wasn't f-feeling well… s-so I... I c-came b-back h-home.” I stare at my feet wanting the floor to swallow me howl. “Someone noticed your ugly face, didn’t they?” She says, looking at me furiously. Shit! How the hell did she find out?! How could she find out?!! I dared to sneak a peek at her. Fear! Fear and panic! Those are the only emotions I’m feeling right in this moment. I don’t know what or how to answer her. “I... I….” I try to begin explaining myself. Something in her eyes changed at that moment. “DON’T YOU DARE TRY TO LIE TO ME!!! WHO SAW?? WHO SAW THAT BIG FAT UGLY FACE OF YOURS? “ Her words have me frozen in place.  I can’t tell her its Lucas. If I tell her, I’m dead for sure! Seeing as I’m not answering her, she grabs me by the arm and brings me down to the basement. That dark and fearsome basement…where most of my torment has taken place. “Mama, please! Don’t! I swear I didn’t say anything to anyone, please don’t do this mama! PLEASE!!!!....
