*CRASHING INTO YOU*
*Chapter 8: The Match*
*NOELLE'S POV*
Grandma wasn’t asking. She was telling.
“You’re 26 and you work too much. You need a husband. I set you up. Jack Wilson. Tomorrow. 7pm.”
So here I was.
Fancy restaurant. White tablecloth.
Jack Wilson walked in. Nice suit. Nice smile.
He introduced himself as Jack Wilson as her matching partner.
“So when are you leaving St. Mary’s?” he asked, cutting his steak.
“I’m not.”
“You should,” he said. “I need a stay-at-home wife. Someone to have kids. Cook. I don’t want my wife doing night shifts.”
I stared at him. “I love being a doctor.”
“You’ll get over it.”
I have All the resources to take care of you more than what you will receive as working as a doctor.
I put my fork down. “I don’t think this can work.”
His face changed.
“Do you think you’re in a position to reject me?” His voice got louder.
People turned.
“I’m only considering marrying you because of your pretty face and nothing else,” he snapped. “Don’t get full of yourself.”
My face burned. I needed out. Now.
I looked up, desperate.
Across the restaurant.
Ethan Cole.
Suit. Talking to another man. Looking bored.
My brain made the decision before I did.
I stood up, walked straight to him, and slipped my arms around his waist from behind.
“Hubby,” I said, voice soft. “Are you still mad at me for what happened yesterday?”
Ethan froze.
