Bryan’s eyes narrowed as he leapt from the rooftop. He descended with lightning speed, twisting his body midair and delivering a devastating spinning kick to the man who had started to unzip his pants.
“What tha-”
The man’s neck twisted unnaturally with a crackling sound, and he collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
Freya, too stunned to comprehend what was happening, screamed and ran in the opposite direction. Her instincts told her to run, to get away from whoever had just killed one of her captors. She didn’t realize Bryan had come to rescue her.
“Wait!” Bryan shouted after her, but she didn’t stop. He sighed, his attention shifting to the two remaining men, who were now fully alert and preparing to fight.
The taller of the two men glared at Bryan, disbelief creeping into his face. “No way... it’s him,” he muttered under his breath. His companion turned to him, confused.
“Who the hell is this guy?” the shorter one asked, eyeing Bryan suspiciously.
“That’s him,” the tall man spat, pointing at Bryan. “The one from five years ago. The man the boss has been searching the entire country for. The one whose father we killed 5 years ago.”
The shorter man recognized Bryan immediately, and then he broke down into a mocking laugh. “Well, well, well. Look who finally crawled out of whatever hole he was hiding in.” He laughed bitterly. “So, the little coward is back. You think you’re a hero now?”
Bryan’s jaw clenched, his heart pounding with rage, but he kept his composure.
The taller man smirked, crossing his arms. “You’re a joke, Bryan Miller. You know that? After we took down your father, the boss tracked down your niece, Diana. Guess what? We didn’t kill her.” His grin widened. “She’s still alive, serving as a concubine to one of the top members of BVG.”
Bryan’s eyes darkened. His heart sank. Diana? His niece, the only surviving member of his late brother’s family, in slavery? Bryan had believed Diana was safe, working as a nurse in town. He had even planned to visit her once things calmed down. This revelation hit him like a truck.
“How dare you touch her?” Bryan said, his eyes widened in rage.
The shorter man chuckled. “Touch her? We did more than that. You should’ve seen her face when we took her. Now she’s nothing more than a plaything for one of our top Men. And after we finish with you, we’ll make sure she never sees daylight again.”
Bryan’s fists tightened. “Tell me who has her,” he demanded, stepping closer. “Tell me, and maybe I’ll let you leave here without your limbs.”
The two men burst out laughing. The taller one wiped a tear from his eye. “You think you can scare us? We’ve dealt with bigger threats than you, Bryan. You’re nothing but a dead man walking.”
His companion raised his gun, pointing it directly at Bryan. “Time’s up, hero.”
Before the man could pull the trigger, Bryan twisted the man’s wrist with blinding speed, turning the gun toward his partner.
Blast!
The gun went off, a loud blast echoing through the area, and the bullet pierced the taller man’s skull. He dropped instantly, blood pooling beneath him.
The shorter man stumbled backward, shocked at what had just happened. Before he could regain his balance, Bryan lunged forward, delivering a brutal punch to his gut.
The man doubled over, gasping for breath, but Bryan wasn’t done. He spun in the air, landing a vicious kick to the man’s head, breaking his forehead. He sent the man crashing to the ground.
Bryan stood over him, his voice cold and steady. “Tell me who has my niece, or I’ll make sure you suffer before you die.”
The man coughed, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. Despite his pain, he chuckled. “You think this is the worst news? You don’t know the half of it.”
Bryan’s eyes narrowed. “What are you talking about?”
The man smirked, clearly enjoying the shock he was about to deliver to Bryan. “Your ex, Kira, didn’t just walk away from you all those years ago. She had your child. A daughter.”
Bryan’s heart stopped. He stared at the man, his mind racing. “What did you just say?”
The man’s grin widened. “Yeah, you heard me right. You have a kid. Kira gave birth to your daughter five years ago. But she didn’t want the burden of raising a child, especially not one fathered by a loser like you.”
Bryan’s hands shook, his mind struggling to process the bombshell revelation. “Where is she?” he demanded, his voice barely a whisper.
“Where is my daughter?!” he said in a low growl. The word daughter still felt odd in his mouth, but if what this man was saying was true, then his daughter might not be safe.
The man laughed, clearly enjoying Bryan’s torment. “Kira dumped her at some poor orphanage. Said she couldn’t drag your kid into her new life. She’s getting married to Dante Romano now, the head of BVG. Didn’t want to bring the garbage you left in her along into her marriage.”
Bryan’s vision blurred, his ears ringing with the man’s words...
Kira had given away their daughter? A daughter he never knew existed? And she was marrying Dante Romano, his sworn enemy? The betrayal cut deep, but the thought of his daughter, abandoned and alone, filled him with a rage like he’d never felt before.
“Where is she?” Bryan growled, his voice trembling with fury. He pressed his foot onto the man’s chest, adding pressure. “Tell me where my daughter is, or I swear I’ll make you regret it.”
The man coughed, struggling to breathe under Bryan’s weight, but he smiled through the pain. “I’ll take that secret to my grave.”
With that, the man pulled a small vial from his pocket and swiftly downed its contents before Bryan could react.
“No!” Bryan lunged forward, grabbing the man’s collar, but it was too late. The man’s body convulsed as the poison took effect, and within seconds, he was dead.
Bryan stood there, staring at the lifeless body in front of him, his mind drowning from everything he had just heard.
His niece, Diana, was a prisoner, forced to be a concubine. His daughter, whom he never knew existed, had been abandoned at an orphanage by her own mother and was now in servitude.
