I'll Never Trust Her Again

1240 Words
POV: Valerie “Come on, Val, don’t make it harder than it has to be. Just sign the damn Papers!” She lets out with a tired sigh, sounding irritated by my refusal to sign it. “No way in hell, Sarah. I won’t take the fall for you again. Tell Travis the truth, or I’ll tell him myself!” I told her sternly. With every ounce of willpower I had left, I prepared for the storm that was about to come my way. I wouldn’t let her win. I couldn’t let her take everything away from me. Not Travis, and certainly not my child. I would fight, even if it felt like I was fighting a lost war. My heart ached for what felt like a lost cause, but I had to stand my ground. I could hear her laugh, and even as it sliced through me, I began to think, to plant seeds of resolution deep in my soul. No matter what Sarah believed, I wasn’t going down without a fight. Not now, not ever. My family was at stake, and I wouldn’t let her define the end of my story. There had to be a way to reclaim my narrative and save both the man I loved and the innocent life growing within me. I have to think fast, I need to outsmart her this time or I’ll lose everything I ever love. I won’t sign it, Sarah, I won’t let you define my life anymore. Besides, you’ll probably kill me right after I admit to this crime. So I’m better off without your pretentious act of goodwill. I will request for my call logs and I would replay the conversation I had with you the day I made that transfer to the pharmaceutical company.” I told her, threatening to expose her. “Do that, and I’ll have you poisoned in here before you get through to the phone company.” She retorted, her gaze stern and scary. “You have no idea what I have done to get to this position. If you think for one second that I would let you destroy my hard work, then you need to think again. I would kill you before you ever get a chance to destroy my life!” she let out fiercely, staring deep into my eyes, her face looking so scary. I shuddered in fear as I stared at her in shock. I do not need a soothsayer to tell me that she meant every word. She is offering me freedom if I would leave and never come back, and death if I decided to stay back and fight her. I know I said I wouldn’t go, I would love to stay back until the truth I. Exposed. I would love to look into Ethan’s eyes and tell him the reason why Sarah is doing all this is to get back into his life. But I can’t do it anymore. Waiting for Ethan to trust me enough to even hear my side of the story may cost me my life. He wouldn’t believe me, even if I had evidence to prove my innocence. He never even loved me, he was willing to divorce me and be with her. For the first time in my life, I have to be selfish. I love Ethan so much, and I would hate for him to be hooked to a psycho b***h like my sister. But I love my baby more. I chose to save myself and my baby first before thinking of Ethan. I may decide to come back to save Ethan, but for now, I had no choice, for the sake of my baby, I have to leave else we may be the target the next time Sarah wishes to murder someone. “Fine, I’ll do it!” I agreed in a weak and defeated tone, feeling too scared to put up a fight. My pregnancy hormones are beginning to kick in, I get weak and scared so easily. Soon, the signs of pregnancy would appear on my body and everyone would know that I am pregnant. If that happens, then Sarah would most definitely kill my baby and I when she finds out that I’m pregnant for Ethan, my husband. She wants him for herself, and she would take out every obstacle in the way, including me and my unborn child. “Good girl, I know you’ll come back to your senses. You were always the smart one,” she praised me, smiling crookedly as she tossed back the papers to be. I tossed it back to her, matching her smiles with mine, “You are right, Sarah. I was always the smart one, and that is why I chose not to trust one word out of your mouth. If you can murder your husband, then you can smolder me in my sleep as well.” I told her, smirking evilly at her. The smile on her face disappeared immediately, to be replaced by a deep frown. “What are you saying, what are you implying?” she asked furiously, hitting her fist on the table. “I’m saying that if you want me to sign those paper, then I want to see my release papers and my documents to leave the country like you claimed. I need my passport too and I want access to my accounts too.” I told her, smiling evilly like she did a few minutes ago. She glared at me hatefully, her eyes burning with hate and anger. “Why don’t you sign first, and give me time to arrange everything you mentioned.” She bargained, forcing out a fake smile. I chuckled at her, standing up from the seat and banged on the table, calling 8guards to take me back into my cell. “If Ethan were involved in this like you claimed, then getting those things shouldn’t be an issue. Unless, you are lying again, and your only wish is to get me to sign those things and get locked away for your crimes,” She waved the guards away as if she was in control of her prison. I turned back to her and she had the meanest look on her face as she glared dangerously at me. I was scared in my heart, I thought she was going to attack me and probably beat the crap out of me. But she smiled at .e and picked up the documents from the table, her eyes never leaving me. “You are getting smarter, aren’t you?” she joked, chuckling at me with a tinge of evil in her eyes. “When dealing with you, Sarah. I’ve learnt to be smart a d careful. Twice you have framed me for your crimes. I won’t let you do it a third time. Take me out of here and I’ll f*****g sign it!” I responded, my voice sounding firm despite the fear in my heart. “Fine, I’ll get everything ready in three day. Just make sure we never cross paths again!” she lets out sternly before walking away, leaving me staring after her as she left. I have to get ready before she gets back here. I have to make my own plans to escape, I can’t rely on her plans. She could be planning to play a fast one on me. I have to be smarter.
