POV: Valerie
It’s Thursday night, and it’s probably the last night I will be spending with my husband. I decided to make it special, a night he will never forget easily. Coincidentally , this Thursday happens to be our anniversary. I know that our anniversary meant nothing to him, but I intend to remind him about it anyways. It may mean nothing to him, but it means everything to me.
The scent of lilies and cinnamon hung heavy in the air as I went about my duties in the house, smiling to myself. I would have opted for calming fragrances like lavender, vanilla, or rose to enhance my mood, but I chose lilies and cinnamon because they are his favorites. Travis just loves them, and he wouldn’t want it any other way.
It’s a special night, and I intend to make it magical and memorable for Justin and me. It's our anniversary, and I have the most amazing gift for him tonight. I kept smiling like a fool as I scattered rose petals on the bed, dinner table, and the bathtub. These are all the places I want to be f****d tonight.
I smiled at that thought, I can never get enough of him. I can’t stop myself from loving and desiring him every f*****g day. I create a petal-lined path leading to the dining area, enhancing the romantic atmosphere. I made all his favorite meals, all for him. For starters, I made a classic dish with prawns in a tangy Marie Rose sauce served on a bed of lettuce.
The main course is a tender beef fillet coated with mushroom duxelles and wrapped in flaky pastry, served with roasted vegetables and creamy mashed potatoes. Then I made his favorite dessert, a warm sponge cake made with finely chopped dates, topped with a rich toffee sauce and served with vanilla ice cream. I let out a soft moan as I imagined him licking his ice cream off my body while he ravaged me.
“Damn!
Tonight is going to be a great night, so perfect!”
I clutched the positive pregnancy test in my hand, a small, hopeful smile playing on my lips as I pictured Travis's face, the joyful shock, the overwhelming love that would flood his eyes when he finds out that I’m carrying his child, our first child, our love baby. The child that would bring us back together and strengthen our love. This baby will bind us together forever.
He has always wanted a child, I see it in his eyes anytime he are around kids. I know he would make such an amazing father, and I’m glad to present this amazing gift to him on our anniversary. I gift-wrapped the test result, then I used rose petals to fill the gift box, adding a romantic touch to my present.
Then I hide the test in his closet, a surprise amongst his neatly folded shirts. As I lifted his neatly folded shirts, looking for a perfect spot to place my gift, I found a small, velvet-lined box tucked away on the high shelf. I wanted to walk away, but my curiosity was piqued. I felt drawn to that box, and I just had to pick it up and open it to satisfy my curiosity.
As soon as I opened it, my face brightened up with a wider smile, I felt the butterflies in my tummy doing somersaults for my mam. Inside the box, nestled on faded satin, lay a stunning, customized white gold necklace, a delicate gold chain adorned with a single, perfectly formed pearl. It was exquisite, so f*****g adorable.
“Had chosen this specially for me?
“Did he choose this to complement the silver stilettos and purse that he bought for me on my birthday three days ago?” I thought to myself, smiling excitedly. For the first time since we got married, he bought me a gift for my birthday. Yeah, I know it’s a little gift compared to all the nice things he gets for his girls out there. But I love it, I f*****g do.
The fact that he even remembered my birthday is a big deal for me. Yeah, I know he’s pretending to care because we f**k our brains out all day long. But that’s the thing, I just don’t care, I just love him. He is just so thoughtful and caring. I must confess, he had outdone himself.
A wave of warmth washed over me, causing me to blush shyly. This evening is going better than I anticipated, it's a perfect double celebration!
I hurried to the bathroom to bathe and get ready before his arrival from work. I searched my wardrobe for the perfect outfit to match my mood tonight. I finally settled on a fitted red bodycon dress with a sweetheart neckline and lace detailing. Travis bought me this gown a few weeks ago, and I f*****g love it because it highlights my curves and draws attention to all my attractive features. I paired it with the silver stilettos and purse that he got me for my birthday.
To finish my looks, I did a full makeup, starting with my primer and a full-coverage foundation to create a smooth canvas. Then concealing any imperfections with my concealer before going in with my smokey eye, using neutral tones and a simple nude eyeshadow with black winged eyeliner.
This keeps the focus on my dress while adding depth to my look. I added a matching red lipstick that gave me that striking look I had in mind. It also complements the shade of my dress and makes me look sexy and hot. I was heading down the stairs when I recalled that something is missing, my outfit is not complete yet. I smiled to myself as I went back to his wardrobe to get my gift that complements my purse and stilettos.
I fastened the necklace around my neck, the cool pearl resting against my skin. It looks so beautiful, so perfect on me. I heard his car pulling up on the driveway, and I smiled to myself and adjusted my bra to push up my boobs, smiling to myself as I did it. The doorbell chimed, a reminder that he is back home to kickstart this amazing night.
A cheerful smile plastered on my face while the butterflies kept fluttering in my stomach. I walked down the stairs and opened the door excitedly, a smile still etched on my face.
“Happy anniversary, my love,” I let out excitedly, throwing myself in his arms as he pulled me in for a passionate kiss, sucking my lips and tongue as he pinned my hands above my head, smashing his body to mine.
“You look so f*****g beautiful too. But don’t you think that this is way too much celebration for an anniversary I would love to forget?” his tone sounding offensive. I hated his response and my attitude changed as I looked at him angrily.
“Fine, if pretending to care would make you feel better, then its fine. You look so pretty and amazing.” He confessed excitedly as he lifted me off the floor excitedly, twirling me around with a bouquet of my favorite stargazer lilies in his hand. He showered me with kisses, his usual teasing grin playing on his lips. He leaned on the doorway, his eyes taking in my outfit as his tongue swayed on his lips, his eyes full of lust.
"Wow, you really went all out, huh? I thought you knew me well, I thought you knew that I was notthe romantic one." He teased, making me chuckle excitedly. I felt giddy with anticipation as I placed the lilies on the table.
"I love the necklace, my love, it’s so beautiful. I have a surprise for you, too," I chirped, pulling him up the stairs to give him my present. I smiled and reached for the pregnancy test.
But then his eyes, which are usually so warm and full of laughter, were fixed on my necklace. His gaze was intense, almost predatory. The playful teasing vanished, replaced by a chilling stillness. It felt as if a stranger was looking back at me from those familiar eyes. His voice, low and firm, cut through the festive atmosphere.
"Take it off.
Take it off, right now!" He growled at me, yanking me back with so much force that I nearly fell to the floor.
I froze.
Confusion written all over my face. He looks nothing like the man I was kissing a few minutes ago. What changed so soon?
"Take... take it off? What, Trav, what should I take off?
My clothes?
Take what off?" I inquired, stammering.
He didn't answer, just watched me with an unnerving intensity, glaring fixedly at me. The happy anniversary atmosphere dissolved, replaced by a thick, suffocating tension.
“It’s rude to go through my things without my permission. How dare you take the necklace that belongs to…“ I honestly wanted to hear the name of the person that he is planning to give this beautiful necklace to. But he paused before he could say too much, and he glared at me angrily.
“Just take it off and give it back!
Don’t ever go through my things again!“ he warned angrily. With shaky hands I reached for the clasp and unlocked it, giving it back quickly. Once the necklace was removed, I stammered an apology, a desperate attempt to ease the tension between us and salvage what is left of our anniversary.
"I… I'm sorry, Ethan. I didn’t…"
He didn’t wait for me to finish. He snatched the necklace from my hand, his touch rough, his movements abrupt. He shoved it back into the box, the velvet lining rustling, the sound jarring in the sudden silence. Then, without another word, without a backward glance, he turned and left, leaving me alone in the glittering, now profoundly desolate, glow of the fairy lights on our anniversary night. The pregnancy test remained forgotten in his wardrobe.
My perfect night is ruined...
Who the hell is she, who owns that necklace?
Is it for my sister, did he buy it for Sarah?
