-How did you know what was going on with Sam? -There's a reason, for us vampires, to prefer blood bags, or animal blood! And if, in extreme cases we need to drink directly from the source, it is not by our choice that we leave her alive! - Rob explained, in a tired tone of voice. -And what is it? - Tony asked. -The blood exchange creates a connection between the vampire and the donor! The vampire is able to feel what the person feels, as if he feels it himself, and that is disturbing! I didn't say anything, because I thought they were legends, only, and even if they weren't, it wouldn't work the same way with werewolves! -Interesting! - Tony commented. - Is there any way to reverse that? -Not that I know of! -But that might be a good thing! -How so? - Lily asked, not realizing Tony's point of view. -Well, then, we'll always know where Sam is! -From that point of view, you're right! -We'll have to tell Sam! - He informed Tony. -Yes, Lily agreed. -Do we? - Rob asked, with a disgust in his voice and a touch of fear. -Of course we do! She's no i***t human, blind to the supernatural, she'll understand! - Tony argued. -If you say so! We will do as you please! It's just that she's so... Temperamental, aggressive, I don't know! -Nothing bad is going to happen, besides, Lily and I will be here, in case she doesn't take things well! How do you feel about her now? -Not much, some physical pain and psychological rest! -If so, then we can go back to the task we were in, before this interruption! Lily and Rob nodded and changed their heads so that they could watch the big TV, where Tony showed the houses he could find on the computer, so that the others could give their opinion. When the famine broke out, the three of them moved into the kitchen to make dinner and Lily was already starting to worry about Sam's absence: -Rob, what can you get out of Sam? -She just walked into the kitchen and heard what you said! - He informed Rob with a staring, to a point on Lily's shoulder. Lily turned to find a livid Sam with an open mouth: -Sam! I was getting worried about you! -I'm fine! As you can see! What's all this about picking things up from me? Tony went into silence, taking care of the dinner in the frying pan, Lily opened her mouth several times before finally being able to say something and when she did, she avoided Sam's eyes and spoke in a low tone of voice: -Well, you'd still have to know, so why not, now! Tell him Rob! -Short story! Because I drank from you, I created a link with you, I know how you feel, anytime I want to, or if the feeling is too strong for me to block it! -Hmm! - It was Sam's answer. -Huh?! - He repeated incredulously, Lily. - Is that all you have to say? -Yes, I happen to think that I also created a bond or a connection, but of a different kind! It was like, I made a beta! -And what does that have implications for? - Curious Tony asked. -Not many, I guess! And, it's hard to explain! I think if I gave him an order with the voice of Alpha, he would be forced to comply, if he or I howled we would know each other's exact location and feel the obligation to go to that point! If he feels any kind of threat, I will be forced to come to him! I will always need to protect him! -Then, it's not that different from the connection Rob has with you! -Tony simplified. Sam shrugged her shoulders, agreeing with Tony: -Now, if we want to get out of here, I'm going to need something to wear! Can either of you repair my sweater and pants? - Sam asked, looking at his shredded clothes, all torn up from the fight. -I think maybe I can! But it's a bit complicated magic, since it takes a little of the essence of the person and conveys it in your style! - Lily said. -All I know is, I can't go on like this, all torn up! This would attract unnecessary attention, for us! -Okay! - Lily agreed, standing up from the chair and calling the wolf, with gestures, to came closer. Sam did as she was told and joined her hands to Lily's, she closed her eyes to concentrate and when she opened her green eyes she sang a strange chant, in a language that none of them understood. A string of green light began to envelop Sam in a spiral, beginning at her feet and ending at her head, then beginning to diminish until it returned to Lily's hands, thus ending the spell. The wolf was dressed in new clothes, a pair of tight black leather pants, a white top with straps, a leather jacket, also in black, tightly closed to the chest and black boots with a tall, shallow barrel: -Wow! - Rob admired as he looked at Sam with the new clothes that outlined her silhouette. -Shush! - Sam threatened him with a growl, a little embarrassed. - That's not exactly what I had in mind! -It's not the style you had in mind that's produced, but the one that best suits your personality! - Lily explained shrugging her shoulders, with a tired voice. -Okay! It doesn't look bad on me! I think I liked it! - Sam answered by looking at herself, in the best way he could. -Well, if you're done admiring yourself, we can move on to the rest of our problems! Lily, when can we talk to your contact? - Tony asked, with little patience. -Whenever you want, all I need is a mirror or a bowl of water! - She commented, but by her voice, they could tell that she was not very happy to do what she was saying. -I'll go get it now! - Tony volunteered going into the living room. A few moments later, he returned with a round mirror, forty centimeters in diameter, which he placed on the table: -Here you go! -Thank you, Tony! Lily put her hands on the edges of the mirror, took a deep breath and concentrated, her eyes turned green and an image shone in the mirror: -Derek! Are you there? - She called, to the frosted mirror. The image stabilized and showed a room, you could see the walls of a dark gray and a bed, a man appeared filling the mirror. It must have been Derek, a man with brown eyes, a square chin, a beard of a day or two, trimmed and a dark revolted hair: -Lily? Is that you? - He asked, obviously surprised. -Yes, it's me, Derek! - She confirmed, with some contempt in her voice -It's been a long time, my love! Lily contracted on hearing such an intimate treatment and controlled herself, not to make any scene, but such did not go unnoticed to the companions: -I am here, with more people! No one who knows you, so you can stop acting! - Lily replied, leaving her companions curious. -Okay! Okay! What do you need? - He asked, in a boring tone of voice, like a child who had been forbidden to eat candy. -How did you get your fake identity to live among humans? -I did it! - The man replied with a shrug of the shoulders. -Can you make four more? - Lily asked, hopeful. -Yes, give me three days and they'll be ready! Of course, I could do it faster if I had the people here! - He commented, with a cunning look. -Okay! We'll come to you! If you want, of course! -This service will not be cheap! -How much do you want? - Lily asked, a little angry. -Five hundred gold coins! - The man replied, with a smile from ear to ear then he added. - Of course, you can always pay me in other ways, I haven't forgotten your body yet! Sam roared and looked at Tony's face, who told him they had the money for it: -It won't be necessary! We'll pay whatever it takes! - Sam replied, passing his head over one of Lily's arms. -Come to Syron, I'll find you! -Okay! Until then! - Lily confirmed and ended the connection with the mirror, ceasing the image that disappeared in an instant. -What a pig! - Commented Sam, with disgust in her voice. - Who does he think you are? -The woman, or his ex-wife! - Lily commented in a shameful but audible whisper by her supernatural companions. -What? - Rob asked, astonished. -What did you saw in that thing? - San asked, looking at Lily from top to bottom, admired. -He wasn't always like that! Before, he was affectionate, charming, loved me and I loved him, or at least, I believed it was so! - Lily explained. -What happened? - Tony asked, as if it were the voice of reason, in the tumult of emotions that circulated around him. -Adultery, in the community of Witches, is highly disapproved, to the point of becoming a crime, what he did to me and two other women in the community was such a vile act that he was expelled and exiled from the community! -What did he do? - Sam asked, with a note of anger in her voice. -He was an adultero polygamist! -Explain that better! - Sam asked, with a lower tone, but her eyes were beginning to reveal the violet color of the transformation, a sign that she was too angry. -In addition to three married women, with him, he still betrayed them all, with more than one woman and many times, with humans! -What a scoundrel! What a bastard! If we didn't need him so much, I'd go down his throat and rip his balls off with my teeth! - Sam roared, indignant. -He wasn't bad, Sam, he doesn't deserve it! - Lily spoke in a low voice, obviously shaken. -Don't defend him! You're the victim! -But things weren't so bad! -If he was expelled from your community, it must have been something very serious! - Tony commented, joining the conversation again. -You don't know what he looks like! -Well, we'll find out! How do we get to Syron? - Sam asked, turning to Tony. -We can rent a car in the village of Xest less than four hours away on foot! -And how do we rent a car if we don't have any IDs yet? - Sam asked. - Besides, do you know how to drive? The look Tony gave Sam indicated that he didn't know how to drive and Lily shook her head negatively: -What about you, Rob? Do you know how to drive? -I just got my motorcycle license, that's all! -So, you mean, I'm the only one who knows how to drive? Well, we'll have to change that situation! But, let's leave it for later! Let's go, before I turn to stone! -Can werewolves turn to stone? - Curious Tony asked. Sam rolled his eyes and went on: -Any more ideas on how to get to Syron? -There is another solution! There's a mountain near Syron, less than half a day's walk away! I don't know the demon that lives there, but I've heard of it! Maybe, if he receive us, I can transport us via mountains to her house! - Tony explained. -Do you have any way to contact her? - Lily asked. -Not really! I can transport us there and try to convince her to help us! -I don't like the way that sounds, Lily, don't you have any magic that can help us? -Not at all! I could turn us into flying animals, but you and Rob are immune to that kind of magic and I don't know how it would work on Tony! - Saddened Lily answered. -Good, Demonic Transport it is! - Commented Rob, with a surprising optimism. - That won't hurt, will it? -I have no idea, I've never tried it! I'll get some things, which we'll need, if you have anything, you better hurry up and get them! - Tony informed, leaving the room. Sam looked at Lily and Rob and synchronic they shrugged their shoulders, not knowing what to say, since they had gotten there, running away, it wasn't like they had brought home, what they were wearing and something that could fit in their pockets, it was all they were carrying. Tony returned a few moments later with a travel bag, made of green cloth, like a gym bag: -Are you ready? The three answered yes, with their heads: -Well, join hands! And, for no reason, break the contact! Do you understand? - Tony asked in a tone of voice, deadly serious. Sam, Lily and Rob nodded and went in a circle, giving their hands to each other. Lily held hands with Tony and Rob, facing Sam.
