Bound by the moon's Betrayal

CHAPTER FOUR: SECRETS UNVEILED.

The forest stood still for a moment, the usual whispers swallowed by silence. The mysterious figure was gone, but his warning still lingered in the air. I bent down and picked up the note again.

Blade and Kael came closer, their expression showcasing confusion and fear.

“What did he say to you?” Kael asked, his voice very tight with urgency

“I hesitated, holding the note. “He said he wanted to show me something but all of a sudden, he attacked. But one thing very strange is that he kept calling me the savior”.

Kael exchanged a glance full of worry with Blade.

“Elena, well, it's time we told you everything,” Kae said.

“About what, please?” I snapped. “Is it why they keep calling me Prophecy or the savior? Is that why I can't have a moment of peace?”

Kael sighed; he gestured that we should be by a fallen tree. “It's because of what has happened to you in the past. It starts with your past. And also about the Shadow Fang”.

I’d always known I was different but could not pinpoint the area it was, but I knew I was different. The dreams I always have, the birthmark on my wrist which glows each time it's under the moonlight - I knew all these but tried to ignore them all. But now, I can't.

Kael began: Your parents weren't complete humans, Elena. They were half human, half wolf which made some rate them as evil. They were part of an ancient order called the Luminara Guardians. They were very powerful, but they made enemies with the Shadow Fang.

“The Shadow Fang”, Blade interjected,” are an ancient cult of ancient cults and sorcerers who seek to attack wolves and plunge their world into darkness. They believe that consuming whoever is the Prophecy will give them unmatched power”.

My heart skipped. “Consuming me?”!!

Kael nodded.” Elena, You're the last child of the Luminara bloodline. When you were a child, your parents hid you to protect you. When the Shadow Fang found them. He trailed off.

I felt the weight of his words sink in. My father really abandoned me, as it was said. They sacrificed everything.

“But why am I the Prophecy”? I asked

“The Luminara had a vision of a chosen one”, Kael explained. “Someone born under a celestial alignment, marked with the sign of the moon and destined to destroy the Shadow Fang. That someone is you “.

Immediately, the birthmark on my wrist burned as if in agreement.

“Where did the Shadow Fang come from?” I asked, very desperate to receive answers.

Blade’s expression changed. “Centuries ago, a wolf named Lakar discovered some f*******n magic capable of bending life and death. He created the Shadow Fang, a pack loyal to his vision. They devoured souls with him and destroyed whatever and wherever they went”

Blade paused, Kael continued, “But something happened. Lakar was not satisfied with power. He sought immorality. That's when he learned and discovered about the Prophecy- the one wolf who could destroy him. Ever since, the Shadow Fang have been hunting the chosen, generation after generation.

“And now they’ve found me”, I muttered, my voice shaking.

“Yes,” Blade said. “And they won't stop until they kill you or you kill them”.

The weight of the words really pressed on me and I was glad I got to know some mysteries behind my existence that I never knew.

I was still lost in thought that I did not know when Blade and Karl left.

“They won't stop until they kill you or you kill them” Those words kept echoing in my mind.

I was just a mere human who transformed into a wolf. How can I kill this pack that has been in existence centuries ago?” I thought aloud.

As I was still pondering on all these, the leaves rustled and the forest was filled with movement. Fear gripped me so much that I had to hide behind a fallen tree.

“But I was told that I have the power to kill the Shadow Fang; how do I do that.” How do I switch into this part of me that I’ve never experienced before?. I whispered to myself. As soon as I said this, the birthmark on my wrist shone red.

The forest movement was becoming stronger, and they were getting closer; I hid myself and watched them pass. I could see their dark glowing red eyes shining like blood and their claws and growls seeking for whom to devour.

As soon as I saw them pass, I stood and started going backward. I did not actually know where I was going to buy and needed to leave that particular spot. As I reached a place that had big trees, a large figure blocked my path. My blood turned to ice. It was the same mysterious figure from before that attacked me.

“Elena, forget it. You can't escape” he sneered, his voice filled with malice.

“I don't know you so why are you doing this? I screamed

The mysterious figure laughed mockingly.

“Because,” he said, stepping closer, “you’re the key to destroying Lakar's full power. And I’m here to deliver you to him”.

“Lakar? I repeated, my voice shaking.

“You’ve to surrender to the Shadow Fang or consider yourself dead. So follow me”. The mysterious figure said.

I felt this power and boldness entering me like never before.

“I’ll never do that. Rather, I’ll destroy you and the others in your pack. I'm sure you're a messenger of the Shadow’s pack, but I don't care. If you don't leave here in a minute, you’ll regret it”.

“How dare you challenge me, little one. I could make your life so miserable. Did you know who you're challenging? He said and locked his eyes that shone like blood on me and immediately, a river appeared in front of me. As I stood there it kept growing and growing in a space of seconds. I did not know what to do.

Just then, the birthmark on my hand shone, and I tapped it immediately, the river dried up.

The mysterious figure was so surprised, it was written all over his face.

Suddenly, I could see my head glowing and my birthmark shining more red. I stretched that hand towards him and a strong light appeared. I watched as the light burned his skin. He kept battling with it and when he could no longer battle with it, he disappeared.

As soon as he disappeared, I started hearing his voice echoing in the air, but I could not see him.

“The battle line has been drawn. Get ready” He said.

“What did he mean by this and who will help me fight this battle that the line has been drawn?”
