CHAPTER TWO

832 Words
THE PAST DOESN’T STAY QUIET— LUNA’S POV- You know what’s funny? The moment life starts feeling peaceful— Something always tries to ruin it. And unfortunately for me? That “something” had a name. Xavier. Yep. Mr. “If you love me, prove it.” Mr. Guilt-trip. Mr. Mixed signals. That Xavier. And trust me— The last person I expected to hear from again was him. Because after everything? I thought we were done. Finished. Over. End of story. Apparently— Life disagreed. It started randomly. One evening. I was literally minding my business, smiling at Trent’s messages like a clown 😭 Then— Message notification. I checked. And immediately frowned. Xavier. Pause. Because excuse me? What exactly do you want? I opened it. Xavier: “Long time.” That’s it? Long time? After all the nonsense? I almost laughed. Actually laughed. Because wow. The audacity men carry should be studied. I ignored him. Simple. Problem solved. Or so I thought. Because tell me why— Another message entered. Xavier: “You really changed.” Sir. You don’t know me anymore 😐 And honestly? I had no interest in entertaining old stress. Especially now. Not when I finally had peace. Not when I had Trent. Someone who actually cared. Someone who made effort. Someone who didn’t confuse me every two business days. So I ignored him. Again. N: But the thing about people from your past? Sometimes they come back when life finally starts making sense. LUNA’S POV- Days passed. Then somehow— Xavier started replying my stories. Random reactions. Weird messages. Trying to start conversations. And honestly? It became irritating. Because why now? Why when I’m finally okay? Then one day— He crossed into annoying territory. I posted a random picture. Nothing serious. Just me. Then he replied— “Your boyfriend changed you.” Immediately— I paused. Excuse me? Changed me how? And why do you sound bothered? 😭 I ignored it. Again. Because honestly? I wasn’t trying to argue. But later that night— Something happened. And trust me—. l I wasn't rea But later that night— Something happened. And trust me— I wasn’t expecting it. I was on call with Trent. Like usual. Just talking. Laughing. Complaining about school. Normal stuff. Then randomly— My phone buzzed. Again. I checked. And immediately sighed. Xavier. At this point? I was getting irritated. Because honestly— Why was he suddenly everywhere? I opened the message. And immediately regretted it. Xavier: “So you’ve moved on that fast?” Pause. Excuse me? Fast? Sir— You literally disappeared 😐 I rolled my eyes. Ignored it. Again. But then— Another message came. Xavier: “Does he even treat you better?” Now okay. What exactly is this interview? Because why are we suddenly acting concerned? Concern that arrived late 😭 I was about to lock my phone— Then Trent’s voice interrupted. “You went quiet.” “Oh sorry,” I said quickly. “Who are you texting?” Pause. Because tell me why— My brain suddenly forgot how to behave. “Nobody.” Silence. Then— “Luna.” Oh. That tone? Yeah. He already knew I was lying 😭 I sighed. “Xavier.” Another silence. Long silence. Then— “Again?” And somehow— That one word? Made me feel guilty. Like I had done something wrong when I literally didn’t even invite Xavier back 😭 “He keeps texting,” I explained quickly. “What does he want?” “I don’t know.” And honestly? I really didn’t. Because Xavier was acting weird. Like suddenly he cared. Which honestly? Felt suspicious. Then Trent sighed. “You blocked him?” Pause. Blocked? Okay now— Why did I not think of that 😭 “No…” “You should.” And somehow— That annoyed me a little. Not because he was wrong. But because— I didn’t like feeling controlled. “I’ll handle it,” I said. “I know,” he said quietly. “I just don’t want someone disrespecting our relationship.” And okay. That one? Made me pause. Because honestly— He had a point. A very good point. Then suddenly— My phone buzzed again. I checked. And trust me— I wish I didn’t. Because Xavier sent another message. “You know I treated you better than he ever will.” I actually laughed. Out loud. Because what??? 😭 Sir— When exactly did this happen? Because last time I checked— You were the problem. But somehow— Something about that message didn’t sit right with me. Because why did it suddenly feel like Xavier wasn’t planning to leave anytime soon? And that was his business to be honest, and tired of his matter and the drama that comes with him. I closed his chat and continued with Trent, and he made me calm after being pissed off.
