I felt Lucian stiffen against me the second our lips met, his entire body turning to stone as his eyes widened in genuine surprise. It was the perfect opening, and I didn't waste a single second of it.
While he was frozen in shock, I twisted my body and used my momentum to flip us over on the mat. I pinned his wrists to the floor and straddled his waist, looking down at him with a wide, triumphant grin.
"I distracted you too," I said, my voice full of excitement as I watched the confusion swirl in his green eyes. "See? You’re just as easy to kill as I am when you let your guard down for a second. I guess your 'discipline' isn't as solid as you think it is, Lucian."
He didn't move or speak. He just lay there, staring up at me like he couldn't quite believe what had just happened.
