MIRA I suddenly jolted awake, my heart slamming against my ribs, and I immediately clutched my neck in a panic. I could still feel the phantom weight of that pillow pressing down on my face, and the sensation of my lungs burning for air was so sharp that I scrambled backward until I hit the headboard. I looked around the dim room, eyes darting around for whoever was trying to kill me, but there was no one there. The room was empty, and the only sound was my own jagged breathing and the distant hum of the palace. I sat there for a long time, my hands shaking as I realized it had been a dream, but the relief didn't last more than a few seconds. I rarely dreamt, and when I did, it was never just a trick of the mind. My dreams were a warning. My dream was definitely going to come to pass. So
