Her body remembered everything. Vividly.
She recalled the last time she’d felt like this—it was the morning of their hundredth day together.
His usually cool, indifferent eyes had turned a warm shade of red. His soft, crimson lips slightly parted as he pressed kisses to her shoulder—gentle, lingering. But the way he moved inside her… was anything but gentle. It hurt, but in the most intoxicating way.
His hands had always been beautiful. Holding a wine glass, the scarlet liquid complementing his pale skin, he looked like a devil dressed in elegance.
And then?
Then he’d poured the wine all over her body. His lips followed. His hands, too—roaming from bottom to top, finally cupping her face, cool to the touch… just like now.
Serena caught hold of a hand—it was ice-cold, and the sensation felt so good. Instinctively craving more, she pressed her cheek to the owner’s face. The same chill kissed her skin, and her tensed nerves slowly melted. With her defenses down, the fire that had been suppressed burst forth, unrelenting.
“You’re so cold… Feels amazing…” she murmured, kissing his face wherever her lips could reach. The man remained still—neither encouraging nor stopping her—just letting her fumble and release her burning desire. Her lips soon trailed down to his neck. “Mmm…”
Adrian had handed Martin off to his men and returned to Serena’s side. By now, the drug had fully taken hold. She instinctively clung to him, even fumbling to unbutton his shirt. He frowned and caught her hands. “Don’t.”
To Serena, this was a betrayal. He had just let her do whatever she wanted—why stop now?
She reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her whole body into him and catching his lips in a kiss. At the same time, she slipped off her clothes, revealing everything without hesitation.
Adrian’s gaze darkened, and he simply lifted her into his arms.
She didn’t let go of him the entire way to his room. The tight skirt she wore had already ridden up to her waist from all her squirming.
He laid her down on the bed. Her face was flushed, lips parted, breathing hot and shallow—the sound of her gasps filled the quiet space.
Just as he started to rise, Serena suddenly clung to his waist, pulling him down onto the bed. His hands caught himself on either side of her head. From this angle, he could see everything.
Serena seemed completely out of it, but her hands still found their way under his shirt, stroking his waist through the fabric. Little moans escaped her lips—soft, almost teasing, like a siren call made to seduce.
Adrian stared at her, unmoving for a moment. Then he spoke in a low voice, “Haven’t seen you in half a month, and you’ve gotten even better at seduction.”
The woman beneath him opened her dewy eyes, clearly aroused. She looked at his handsome face and gave a breathy chuckle. “Better or not, doesn’t it still depend on whether my old flame is still into me…”
Adrian’s eyes deliberately swept over her body. “And? What’s your conclusion?”
Serena smirked and wrapped her arms tighter around his neck, pulling him down into a kiss. As their lips tangled, her bent knee brushed against a certain part of him, teasing. She raised her brows. “You know. I know.”
…
“Wasn’t Adrian known for never going back to his exes?”
“Just a rumor,” Adrian said as he rolled them over so she was on top. His hands gripped her slender waist, holding her steady. “Compared to some stupid gossip, proving Miss Serena still has it is far more worthwhile.”
Serena laughed. “Couldn’t agree more.” Look at him—acting all cool after getting exactly what he wanted.
Serena hadn’t expected the drug to be that strong. Even after two rounds with Adrian, it wasn’t enough. She had to soak in the cold bath for twenty full minutes just to get herself under control.
Stepping out of the bathroom, she sat on the armrest of the small sofa, toweling off her damp hair. Her gaze drifted to Adrian, who was lounging against the headboard with a laptop on his legs, fingers flying over the keyboard.
She finished drying her hair, jumped barefoot off the sofa, and walked over to him. Wrapping her arms around his neck from behind, she asked, “So, how are we settling this?”
“Hm?”
Serena climbed into his lap, smiling sweetly. “What, you thought you could just sleep with me for free? That’s not how I do things.”
Adrian understood her immediately. Narrowing his eyes, he said, “You’re asking for money? Don’t forget, I saved your life.”
“Which is why I only charged you once.”
The room fell silent. They locked eyes, neither speaking.
There was no particular emotion in Adrian’s usually unreadable eyes, but his gaze alone could make most people tremble. Serena, however, smiled calmly the entire time.
A moment later, Adrian suddenly curved his lips into a faint smile—warm and satisfied. “That’s more like the Serena I know.” He tapped something on his keyboard, and her phone—resting on the nightstand—buzzed with a payment notification.
She glanced at the number. Though she knew he was always generous, she was still pleasantly surprised. Her smile deepened, voice light and cheerful. “Are you here in Silver Bay for vacation? I know a place with gorgeous views. If you have time, I could show you around. Consider it repayment for saving me.”
Adrian didn’t respond. Instead, he grabbed an ice pack and gently pressed it to the swollen side of her face. “Opal Dynamics already signed with LH. Whatever effort you put into Martin is pointless.”
Serena froze, then let out a low laugh.
That bastard.
She’d thought he was just trying to play some sleazy power game. Turns out, he was even bolder—he’d wanted to screw her for free!
Thinking back, she still felt a chill. If Adrian hadn’t shown up when he did, she’d have been completely screwed—literally.
LH… No wonder Adrian was here.
Her gaze shifted to his face, something unreadable in her eyes.
Adrian brushed aside the damp strands of hair clinging to her cheek. “What is it?”
“You’re working with Opal Dynamics now. Is it okay that you beat the crap out of that guy?”
“Of course it’s not,” Adrian replied coolly, the edge in his voice unmistakable. “Everyone at Opal Dynamics owes me a damn good explanation. They already signed with me—what the hell were they doing talking to your company, AS? And how much sensitive information got leaked during those talks?”
She knew it. Adrian wasn’t the kind to get the short end of any deal.
Serena shrugged and got off his lap, heading for her phone to call her assistant. “My luck’s been crap lately—first a heartbreak, then losing a deal, and nearly getting assaulted. I should hit a church and pray or something.”
Her fingers had just touched her phone when a pair of hands suddenly wrapped around her from behind. His arms locked her in place, and before she could react, his hand slid beneath her robe again…
She gasped, her freshly cooled body instantly heating up again.
Adrian whispered against her ear, “Why go searching for peace and comfort elsewhere? I’m right here. Don’t worry—I’ll pay you.”
