Civilizations were formed to provide protection from the threat of wild beast, but this had its share of threats even far more greater than beast. Civilization is formed by individuals who share the same interest, same goal, or more commonly, people who share the same roots, but not everyone share the same interests, goals and roots, there will always be someone with completely opposite understanding and origin than yours. This is why there is war, this is why there are borders and this is why we are doomed with conflict. In order to satisfy ones greed, there will always be blood, either it's your own or someone else's, weapons that were once used to protect, revealed it's true potential, the potential for s*******r. "Hello, is anyone there?" Kaden whispered to the radio Kaden attempts to communicate with someone, hopefully in the radius of the small radio, attempt after attempt, he fails again and again as there was simply no one in the radios range, at least not that of an ally, if Kaden were to accidentally open the frequency of the enemy's radio, it could potentially give his location to enemy trackers, earning him his doom. It was getting dark, he himself had no means to see in the dark, plus the enemy might have equipment to see in such, meaning he's screwed. Kaden decided to keep moving and also to find his comrade he got split up with. Walking along the trench, corpses are littered and the ground turned into a glop of blood and dirt. Thinking of what he might do if he encounters an enemy he taught that he could use the corpses as camouflage, at the time it seemed like a good Idea until he saw what the enemy did to the corpses... Groups of three's carried dead bodies onto a pile, strips them of they're equipment, then incinerates them... He decided to avoid contact instead of his first stealthy approach, though it may take longer it will save him from turning to barbeque. Soon Darkness will cover the land, knowing this, Kaden hurried to find the truck column he remembered that the mobile unit left they're motorcycles, thinking that he might be able to use them to better traverse the barren landscape. As he dashed through the blood soaked trench, he felt a sense ever so familiar to him, as his body was soon enveloped by intense heat enough to suffocate him and soon enough, a huge shadow cast's itself upon him, he quickly crouched leaning against the trench wall. Shortly after, a huge swarm of creature's deformed to its bare crawl across the mountain range, along with huge towers of flesh and bone, making a scene similar to that of  an ocean of rouge waves, soon the heavens were filled with what looked like bats or feather less birds some, these monster of behemoths stride across the bloodied land. Taking advantage of the chaos those mutants caused, Kaden scraps the idea of using the motorcycle he saw and began running from the frey. Whilst running, Kaden heard static coming from his radio someone was trying to communicate with him "He-hello" *Static* "Hello, is anyone there" *Static* Still no answer, but now that he heard static he knows that the direction he is going is truly where his allies are, he keeps the radio at the same frequency and dashes as quickly as he could surely enough he heard a voice... "Break, break, HQ, do you copy, over" said by an unfamiliar voice "this is hq, read you loud and clear" "This is unit callsign exillium, enemy armored division is now pre occupied we may now proceed, over" "Copy that, you may now proceed to Charlie, over" "Copy that, over and out" He had overheard a conversation, it seemed to be a squad, "exillium", though they spoke in English and the enemy spoke a language similar to chinese, they might be friendly. Kaden tried to find a safe spot to use the radio, he entered a dug in and barricades himself using crates to block the entrance, unlike any of the dug outs there seems to be another room, a door made of metal, beside it, is a gun port and above is a speaker. "Hey, you, by the door, who are you, ID, now" "I'm z-612, currently unassigned, I'm friendly, DON'T SHOOT!!!" "Kaden?" "Zeke?" "No Brad, Hold your fire, he's friendly We're opening the door Kaden" The metal door unlocks and opens letting out a rusted creak, Kaden entered the concrete bunker, he walks through a hallway and at the end of it is another gun port along a sharp narrow turn to another door that already unlocked itself. Inside are bunk beds, shelves and a handful of soldiers. "Kaden!, Your alive I thought you were done for, I heard explosions and... How are you alive?" "yeah, I thought I was going to die, it's a long story I'll tell you when we're out of here, for now let's contact HQ" "You have a working radio?" Zeke asked Kaden sits on one of the beds and uses the radio as people gather around him "Hello, can anyone hear me" "Who is this" Hearing the voice coming from the radio everyone around him cheered as help may at last arrive... "This is unit z-216, I'm with another squad, we are currently behind enemy lines, over" "Copy that unit z-216, you are currently a stragler, unfortunately we cannot rescue you now, you're on your own, over" "Copy, I guess it can't be helped, though there's quite a few of us still here shall we wait for you, over" "Z-216 if that is what you wish, make sure that you can hold it there for at least a week, over" "That's a negative we'll need more suplies, over" "We cannot support you, I'm afraid your on you're own..." The conversation ended, but against their expectations they received reassurance of they're inevitable demise, leaving them with the MRE's they do so hate to taste, and foes that never seem to stagger.
