Asher's POV
Leaving the driver behind on his knees, I went towards the elevator and took a breath after seeing the time, and ruffled my hair as I was half an hour late. There must be chaos going on. I am sure the directors would fume and gossip about me. Also, today they are going to raise this issue as my inconsistent.
I blew some air and bowed my head to maintain my composure. Surely, there is no chance that I am going to let them take advantage of my circumstance.
The elevator stopped on the 1st floor as soon as I walked outside the elevator. I found my assistant rushing there.
"Sorry sir, I got stuck in the traffic," she said, curling her lips in a seductive smile and licking her lips.
I looked at her from her toe to head. If the situation could have been different, I might have tasted her lips, but at this moment a fire blazed in my heart seeing her guts. I shook my head saying, "At least, check yourself in the mirror before leaving the house, and yes, you don't have to find any excuse next time."
"What do you mean, sir?" She asked in a confused tone. I rolled my eyes and clenched my jaws over her fake innocence and said, "That's why I hate girls. They always neglect to work. Also, their brain works like some swing."
"If instead of applying a ton of makeup, you had reached on time. I didn't need to fire you," I sternly added.
Listening to my words, she straightened her back and gave me an apologetic look saying, “Sorry sir, I won't be late for the next time.”
"Ms. Katie, you don't have to apologize for such a trivial matter," I smirked inwardly and moved from there. She happily came behind me saying, "Thank you, sir, for giving me another chance. I promise I won't disappoint you. Also, I would pay you for your kind gesture."
"My pleasure but Ms. Katie, don't forget to collect your pay before going as I don't like to kick someone without their pay," I turned towards her and gave a melancholy look. She attempted to say something, but before she could have, I stormed inside the conference hall thinking that now I have not only to find a driver but another assistant, and this time I swear I am going to hire an assistant on my own. And surely, I would like to have someone different who can challenge me, unlike Katie who always throws herself at me.
I heaved a sigh in relief and walked near the directors, who were busy with their muttering. I am sure all were busy commenting on my ineptitude.
Seeing me there, everyone gave me an annoyed look and stopped their muttering as they couldn't dare to comment anything on my face.
“What is today's issue?” I asked without greeting them and took my seat. All looked at me with an enraged gaze, but as usual, they couldn't say anything.
As I am not the only one who has the highest share among them, since I took over the CEO position. Kellen's company market value touched the sky. Not only this, I have not only a Kellen company, but I am also a co-founder of some other companies. And the fun fact is I am only 28 years old and a self-made billionaire, so they are kind of jealous of me. I peeked at them and found their gaze on me. I shook my head and ignored them royally.
Smirking in my mind, I turned my gaze to the chairperson. "I am sure if you all have waited for me then this is about me. So, tell me what kind of demand they have? And on what basis do they want my resignation?"
"Mr. Patrick, at least tell us what caused you to make us wait for 30 minutes? Not only you, but your assistant was also out of reach. If you were going to be late, you or your assistant should have informed us," Mrs. Deanna said, smirking inwardly.
All other board members agreed with her, which made me chuckle at their desperation.
"Sorry, Mrs. Deanna, but I had some emergency. I didn't think that you all would need to wait for me. As in the past, we proceeded to the conference without waiting for someone. But If I knew, I would have sent a message to you all," I sarcastically said.
"Specifically, to you Mrs. Deanna, as you seem to be curious about me most," I said with fake sadness. Listening to my words, Janet's face flushed. But how could I let her live in her delusional world? So my next sentence made her fume in anger.
“s**t! How could I have? I don't even have your number. As I thought, I won't need unnecessary numbers, my mobile gets hung whenever I try to feed your number,” I said, shrugging my shoulders.
"Can we all focus on today's agenda if all this game ended?" The chairperson, Mr. Robertson said in a stern tone.
"Yes, why not," I muttered while Janet and others looked at each other and smiled.
"Today's proposal is the dismissal of Mr. Patrick. First, you all should tell us the reason then we will give him a chance to explain and if it does not satisfy the majority, then we will conduct voting," Mr. Roberson said.
"Gosh! Again? I am tired of this nonsense. I just hope today you all give a solid reason, unlike you all I don't have time on my hands," I said, rolling my eyes.
"Don't worry, Mr. Patrick, we won't disappoint you," Janet said with a cunning smile.
"Let's see," I muttered.
"The shares are continually dropping not only this but we are losing the investors," Janet said, standing from her place and moving towards the projector. She played some slides and showed a continued decline in market value and gave me a smirk.
"This is a crisis," Mr. Robertson commented, lowering his glasses.
"But how am I related to all this?" I said in disbelief and was about to stand. "Sorry for disrespecting you, but I have more important work than this nonsense."
"Mr. Patrick, this data is after the raid which happened in your company. We all are aware that you are undergoing investigation under tax evasion," Janet said, smirking.
"Your source is so fast, Mrs. Deanna," I gritted my teeth and sat crossing my legs.
"We have to," Mrs. Deanna said, smirking and in a confident tone.
"Good to know but I won't like to waste your or others' time, so today I am directly coming on the topic," I said, standing and going towards Mrs. Deanna.
"This data is irrelevant to me. I already knew that once my investigation news would be out, you all would go to do something like this," I said, rolling my eyes and putting my hands on Janet's shoulders.
"There is a file in front of you all. This has data from the past two months of my companies. Not only does this also contain the data of my product. This time I achieved the highest turnover among you all. Kindly go through it, and then decide whether I should leave the board," I sternly said.
"And yes, the date you are showing is of that company in which I have the least share among you all. Further, you are all responsible for this mess. If rather than concentrating on me, you all could have done something for yourself, the situation must be different," I fiercely said.
All got silent and gave a killer look to Janet while Mr. Robertson engrossed in reading.
"Well, I am leaving as I don't think that my presence is needed anymore. Further, I have a press conference. I would love it if you all watch it," I left from there and took out my mobile.
There is no way that I am going to waste my time here. Also, I have to tell HR to shortlist some assistants for me.
"Shortlist some candidate for me as I fired the old assistant," I said, over the mobile and was about to cut the call but stopped listening to the HR manager's words.
"Would it be fine if we select someone fresher? We got an invitation from the University of Queen. That university has a good ranking worldwide, and it also has an excellent reputation. Not only this, we have so many decent employees from there," the manager said.
"Also, it would help us bounce back," he added.
"When?" I asked, thinking it is a great idea.
"Next week and until then we have some contract workers. So, should I say yes to them?" The manager asked.
"Say yes to them but make sure I don't need to waste my time there," I hung up the call and walked away smirking thinking about campus interviews. It would be fun to play with young minds, especially with girls.
