“Now what, Mr. Patrick? Didn't I say that I don't want to meet you?”
“Don’t you have work rather than coming behind me?”
I fumed looking at the car but my eyes narrowed seeing the red sports car. A man was standing at some distance but because of the darkness around the car, I couldn't see his face.
“What happened to you, Ms. Carter? Why are you so furious?” He chuckled mirthlessly.
Within a few seconds, I understood he is not Asher, he is Alvis Nicholas who fooled me.
But, I don't understand why I get confused between them even though they are different people.
“Get your mind straight, Alvis,” I shook my head as Alvis came towards me.
“Gosh! You scared me, Ms. Carter, with your harsh words.”
I gritted my teeth and blew some air and said, “Stop mimicking Asher.”
Alvis lifted his hand and shook his head saying, “Easy, Ms. Carter.”
“I was checking something. So I acted but I must say that you didn't disappoint me. That guy deserves hate. You should never be fooled by one or two of his good deeds.”
“However, don't get angry at me. I am sorry for my prank.”
“You know what Alvis, I am not angry that you played a prank on me but I am getting mad at you for another reason.”
I squinted my lids, and walked away while shaking my head.
“For what? Did someone say something to you-u?” Alvis stammered, running behind me.
“Aura, see I only,” Alvis stood in front of me blocking my way.
“What? Didn't I say that I don't like it if someone keeps bitching about someone? See I don't know what Mr. Patrick did with you but he saved my life though I behaved badly with him. So stop cursing him in front of me. Moreover, I don't want any dramatic situations.”
“Oh! I thought you were angry about something else,” Alvis muttered, confusing me but before I could have asked anything, he shrugged his shoulders and took my luggage even though I resisted.
“It is good that you don't know anything yet,” he mumbled, confusing me more.
But when his blue eyes matched with mine, I felt something weird. It was not a weird attraction but it was like a connection.
“Let me drop you,” he said.
Without waiting for my reply, he walked towards his car.
“What is this?” I sighed in annoyance, going towards his car but to my surprise, Alvis sat in his car after opening the door for me.
“And do you even know my new address?”
“Just hop in, I don't have much time, and trust me before something goes wrong, I want to be that guy who helped you in this situation. So please, Aura, be fast.”
“Also I am sorry for not being present when you needed me most. I am sorry that I let you suffer but now I promise I am going to be with you for the maximum time.”
I drew a long breath and sat in his car but soon I realized something. How does he know that I am leaving my house?
I remember only Macey and Asher are more aware of my situation than how this guy seems to be aware of my situation. That day too he knew about my job. Is there something behind his sweet behavior?
Am I safe with him?
I looked at him with so many questions in my mind. Am I again trusting the wrong guy?
Half an hour later, Alvis stopped his car..
“What?” I rolled my eyes as Alvis stopped his car at some other place instead of my new place.
“This place is near to your university as well as to your new office. Also, this place is safe, no one can enter your house without your permission,” Alvis said with calmness.
“Are you even in your senses? I can't afford this place. I am just a poor girl who has to manage so many things,” I snorted, moving out of his car as I was in front of a huge beautiful villa.
“Aura.”
“Open the trunk. I don't know why I even sit in your car.”
I closed my eyes and fisted my hand.
“You don't have to worry about the money. I have paid rent for 2 years. So you can live without any worries.”
Alvis came out of the car and tried to hold my hands however, I moved back and showed my hands to him.
“Do you know something personal? And why are you helping me?”
“Aura, just see how beautiful this place is.”
“No, please don't even try to change the topic. Alvis, you are becoming a mystery
“I can't answer that at this moment but I can answer one thing,” Alvis came closer to me and held my hands causing my heart to beat faster.
I suddenly felt my throat drying up as I watched him close his eyes.
“You want to know the real reason behind my behavior,” he huskily said as I felt anxious.
“Do you remember I told you that I am in love with a girl but she has a boyfriend? Now I found her boyfriend was a d**k. I have a chance with her, so I am trying to impress her. It is just that I don't know how I should do this. So forgive me if I cross the line.”
I could sense where this conversation was going but I am not ready for this. So I tried to free my hand but Alvis softly wrapped his hand around my waist and pulled me closer.
“Alvis, I should go if I get late, my room owner would create a scene.”
To be honest, I just don't want to fall for anyone, especially for this mysterious guy.
“Aura, please,” Alvis
“Please Aura, listen to me,” Alvis cupped my chin as I tried to turn my face away.
“You are that girl whom I love. The moment I saw you, I felt something for you. And since then I have only tried to see you and protect you.”
My eyes turned teary. I closed my eyes and was about to tell him that there was not even a moment when I felt for him neither I could ever do.
“I know you are not ready for this but I am ready to wait for your answer. Just please don't deny it for now. Take your time and answer me whenever you are comfortable.”
“How?” I asked as I don't understand how someone can fall for a girl like me and that too in a short interval.
“Umm, I don't have an answer for this question but trust me,” Alvis paused. “I am never going to hurt you even if you decide to say no to me.”
“So I hope you will think about my proposal.”
“Alvis, I don't understand how to react. I don't even know you much. How am I even supposed to think about your proposal,” I pressed my lips and moved away from him. “I don't know why in the first place, I accepted your friendship when I don't even know how you look and what your real identity is. You keep hiding behind the mask.”
“Anyway, drop me,” I blew some air.
“But,” Alvis.
“Should I go on my own?” I sternly asked as Alvis didn't move from his place.
“Can’t you just live here? We are friends, right? So at least for friendship, live in this villa.”
“Please don't make me break our friendship.”
Alvis sighed, humming. He opened his car's door for me. I sat with some nervousness and closed my eyes.
Alvis sat in his driving seat and without saying anything, he drove his car.
Several minutes later, he stopped his car in front of my apartment.
I was about to go out but stopped by his words.
“I will help you to know me better so you can think about me more.”
“And yes, Aura, you don't deserve someone like Marcus, so I hope you are not refusing me because of him.”
“Alvis,” I said, getting confused again.
“I dig about this, now please don't take me wrong. I liked you, and when you told me that you have a boyfriend, I was upset so I wanted to see what that guy has. How would I become like this?”
“Please don't be like him,” I muttered.
“He was just an asshole thank god I am better than him,” Alvis shrugged.
“You are becoming more mysterious,” I arched my brows as he rolled his eyes.
“That I am but I hope you would like this mysterious guy. And also I hope you are not going to break our friendship just because I ended up proposing to you out of the blue.”
“I don't know but you should have waited.”
“I wanted to wait for some months so you could move on but then,” Alvis. “I mean I wanted to tell you why I am getting angry. And why my hate for Asher is getting stronger though I am thankful for saving you.”
“He is taking interest in you and that is making me worried. What if he again snatches someone whom I love.”
I gave him a confused look.
“Now, please don't ask anything like how do I know. I just know it and what is the history between Asher and me.”
I pressed my lips together and went out without replying to him.
To be continued.
