Augustine pov.
I felt something warm dripping on my skin.
I twitched.
Then I stared at my boss, although I could not see anything because of the smoke, but later I saw my boss.
Some metallic parts of the gun pierced through my boss's body.
I looked at the hand I used in covering the gun's pinhole, and to my surprise I wasn't hurt.
“What are you?” my boss asked as blood gushed out from his mouth and fell on top of my body.
After saying those words to me, he fell to his side and died.
I rolled his body off mine and navigated through the restaurant, confused and lightheaded.
I just killed my boss.
Those were the words going through my head.
Then I saw a man sitting on a chair in the restaurant, his back turned against me. “What a mess you did here.”
I froze in shock, unable to move.
“You are not human, are you?” He walks towards me, but I couldn't see his face because the room was dark and covered in dust “Stay away from me, I'm warning you.” I slowly moved backwards in fear. “Look, kid, you don't need to be scared. I saw what you did, and I know who you are. I can help you,” he tried convincing me.
“How are you going to do that?” I asked.
He stood at my front.
I saw his face, he wore a black cloak with scars on both of his hands. “By training you,” he uttered.
I accepted his offer for him to be my trainer, then he took me to where he lives. It was an enormous compound with no sign of life.
For the past two years, he trained me and nurtured me. Thanks to all his training, I was able to use my ability.
But deep down, I felt like he already knew who I was, and that was what made me more suspicious of him.
Then the day came when I was going to challenge him, and I was going to take my revenge for those two years of training that he put me through.
I stood at the open space, comfortable and sure of my victory, while Ace, my trainer, was warming up and stretching his limbs.
As soon as I saw his guard was down, unexpectedly I attacked him.
He kept avoiding my blows, dodging me, and the little hit he had on me was effective.
He never showed me his abilities, so I didn't know what he was capable of.
I dashed towards him, grabbed him by the arm, and smashed him to the earth ground, resulting in dust filling the atmosphere.
I smiled, thinking I had succeeded, until something showed up behind me.
He was the one.
He held both my fists in midair and replicated the same move I did to him, and it felt like his was more effective than mine.
I was down, looking at him from below.
He smiled at me, “You tried, maybe next time, you will do better.”
I don't need next time. For the past two years I have trained my entire body so I could beat you, but I keep losing.
I could have easily accepted defeat and moved on, but I just couldn't live with myself if I were to do that.
I clenched my fist, and before he knew what was happening, I lunged at him.
I sighted me and easily avoided me, but I wasn't done yet. Furthermore, I punched him into the ground, and when he managed to regain himself, I attacked him again.
But something strange happened.
It was like I was hitting something hard, and although I couldn't see through the dust, I knew that something was odd.
Then out of nowhere he attacked me. His attacks were so strong that they sent me flying in another direction.
I was unable to control what was happening.
But I'm not going to lose. No matter what happens, I must prevail.
I saw him heading towards me through the dust rising into the atmosphere, and that was when I held his fists.
His fists collided with my open palms, and a tremendous force scattered the ground at our feet.
Then the atmosphere settled.
I started breathing heavily as I still struggled to hold my ground against him while he slowly pushed me backwards.
After everything, I fell to my knees, panting from exhaustion.
I never thought I would lose to him again, and this devastated me.
He drew my attention. ”You almost beat me. At least it was better than other times, won't you say?”
I didn't respond to him. Moments later he left, but I was still not happy with my defeat.
I will have to train again so that next time I will prevail.
Ace pov.
My fists were shaking from my training with Augustine.
I still can't believe that he has such power. He could have killed me, but for some reason it didn't happen.
From the damages on the training grounds, I was convinced that he was stronger than I.
My name is Ace. I am a superhuman like Augustine. My story started when some members of my clan wanted to produce a strong warrior.
Fortunately for me, my ability was what they wanted, so I was chosen.
It didn't take me long to discover what they really wanted from me. My ability made me indestructible, according to them, I was a rare one.
So they wanted to see if my abilities could be replicated or transferred to another person. After using me for years, I made up my mind and ran away.
It was after that I made a team of superheroes to fight against evil.
But my life soon changed when I saw Augustine. He possesses the same ability as me, but I noticed that he's more powerful than me. I sense that he has more potential than I do.
So I decided to take him under my wing to train him, and so far, I was right.
It seems he also has super strength, speed, reflexes, sharp vision, instinct, healing factors, and more abilities I'm yet to discover.
But he doesn't know how to properly use them, he only knows how to use his indestructibility to his advantage.
That evening, I met with my team to discuss Augustine's fate. This was because the team doesn't believe in him, they don't think he's capable of being a hero.
But I do.

I was still angry about what happened.
I was angry that I lost, so to overcome that anger, I decided to focus on my training.
While I was still training, Ace walked up to me, “Kid, we need to talk about something.”
I paused. “About what?” he intruded.
“About making your preparation to join the team. They finally accepted you, so try your best not to mess things up.”
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
After several failed attempts to be accepted, they finally agreed to accept me. I was overwhelmed and, at the same time, anxious.
