12 New York City was bigger than Melanie could have ever imagined. The entire city seemed to spill out in front of her and she couldn't believe its immense size and vibrant energy. From the moment they left the airport she felt like she was living inside of some be-bop jazz song. The Big Apple's frantic fluid energy made her feel alive. The Iowa girl was smiling from ear to ear and she stared up at the impossibly tall buildings which surrounded her. Armando had lived in New York City in the early 1970s. Then again for the summer of 1995. And finally, Brooklyn had been home from 2000 to 2002. He knew the City well and felt like it was his second home. He had so many memories of Manhattan and its surrounding boroughs. He smiled to himself realizing Melanie was just a kid when he last lived
