Since the day Cade forever changed the world in the wrong way, he still found himself in Wyoming. "It" had him laying low and being as normal as possible. The plan had been derailed and Cade had no doubts that meant Veros was regrouping. He always had known what and who Veros was, he had been told the truth about that. He chose to call him "It" because he had no form and little power he was just a voice in his head. A voice in his head that had lately been quieter and Cade was grateful for that.
He found himself working at a gas station and renting a little trailer house. He also found he liked it where he was. It was beautiful country, the mountains had endless ways to have fun and do new things. They were peaceful. The weather was fickle, and the people were great. NIce, helpful, kind and not too nosy. His life had become simple and he found that even though that was new to him, he was really becoming happy. He was able to leave his past behind. He wished he was able to leave his secret behind him, yet he knew he was in so deep there was no way out and it would be the death of him.
Cade was pushing the mop back and forth across floor happy to focus on that instead of his thoughts. Just as he thought he was past it and ready to think of what he would do after work, "It" broke in. "WHen is your next day off? WE need to go to a library and use the internet." Cade sighed heavy, and thought back "In two days. Why? What you got?" "I'll tell you then" It responded.
Dread filled Cade to his eyebrows. Maybe it was his conscience, but he had a bad feeling growing inside him. For good reason, Veros had decided he had his last use for Cade and formulated his next move with full intetention of disposing of Cade, only after he had had him get rid of the new being he could sense. Whatever this creature was it had what he needed to regain full form and power so he could carry on with his ulimate plan. He did what Satan wanted, and nothing was ever said that he could not do what he wanted. He wanted it all, rule over the heavens and earth and he would get it. Soon, so very soon.
Hermes had also been laying low. He, Aries, Hades and Elysisian were all in agreement it was best if Zeus and the others had no knowledge of Felina or that Hermes was around. Elysisian and Hades were to do their part to keep them in the dark until it was seen how they would be in the new world. Aries feared they would go right back the old way of doing things. Not to mention the humans were in chaos. The four states around yellowstone were ground zero and oddly those humans were dealing with it the best. The rest of the world was floundering. Along with the Gods, every creature that were thought to be myths, werewolves and vampires were now known. The explosion seemed to unleash the magic of the old world and rift it with the new. And then there was Zeus. No one could tell where he was with all this. In the far past he was easily anticipated. Now, however even Aries would having trouble reading him, and that was something as Aries was unreadable, unpredictable and the reason he did things was always so far from what one would think his motives were. He was actually a good guy, very noble and very just. Right was right and wrong was wrong. He could do something wrong to get someone out of a bind they put themselves in and make it right. The God of Wars most people thought were only in the minds. He fought them all, mind body and spirit, whether they were his or not. War was War and Aries was made to fight and win them. And he did just that sparing no expensense.
That was on Hermes mind as he was intently watching life come back into Felina. That she was just some kind of collateral loss in all this. It wasn't right at all, he had spent days exploring the deep corners of her house and the remenates of the life, and family she was the backbone of. One thing he knew was humans could love like no other and that love could drive them to greatness. Great she was. He saw the picture story in the album of her life. He saw the moments of complete worship her husband had for her. He saw the bank account balances and reciepts of how much this woman loved her family and how she spent her waking time to break herself and loose herself to make them happy. The family notebook said so, there was so much in there, they wrote back and forth and loved each other through it. As beyond Godly beautiful as she was it wasn't attraction he held for her, it was respect. She was strong, wise and just. She was kind and sweet. She was the hardest working human he had ever seen, judging by the work texts on her phone. She was like a girl, human version of Aries, only not prone to anger or fits of weird coldness. He hoped the transformation would be kind to her and she wouldn't loose herself and he vowed he would not let Aries f**k it up. It seemed Hades and Eli were on board.
So with all the thoughts Hermes pushed away as life grew in her. He would see how it all played out and for once use his powers as a God for something worth it. A realization struck him Hades had said. She is what we needed a long time ago. She is hard to not love in any way one can love her. She is born of the stars and sunshine and has a power we forgot and lost.
