Chapter 2

He hated working this late, but at the moment there was too much to do. These business proposals wouldn’t go over themselves.  He stood up and poured himself a glass of whiskey and looked out at the view from his office. “God, I love this city” he thought. How is it that it is even more beautiful when its dark outside? He leaned his forehead against the glass and closed his eyes. For a 36 year old he was fairly successful. His company had made the top 50 list of marketing firms in the US, a big accomplishment in itself. But for Sebastian, it was just never enough. He always wanted more. He always got so restless. “That's why you’ll never get married” his mother used to say. “thank god your sister has given me grandchildren. I’ll be dead and buried before you settle down” he could hear her in his own mind. Oh the sweet gult trips a mother took you on. He smiled as he finished his drink. It’s not that Sebastian didn’t want a family and children. He longed for it in fact, although secretly. It was just that the women he met were mostly the same. No matter if she was blonde or brunette, tall or short, if she had a degree or was a trust fund kid. They all were more interested in his money more than anything. It got so boring after a while that he ended every relationship before it hit the 6 month mark. He had never lived with a women before either apart from his mother and sisters. He sighed as he turned to his desk to finish up tonight's work and go home.  The office was decorated in a tasteful creme color with a desk in massive wood with beautiful carved details. In front of it were two black chairs and further in there was a brown sofa. He had slept on that sofa many nights during his first years as CEO but now he made it a habit of getting home to get a workout and a night of sleep in his own bed.  As he was walking across the room he hears a commotion in the hall, he heard a crash and Rick, his very talented personal assistant, swearing. As he made his way outside he saw Rick running down the office hallway.  “Rick! What the hell is going on?!” But Rick was already halfway out the door.
