Chapter 5. Longing

When we got home we settled in for the night tired as h***. She went to bed said she was exhausted and was ready to turn in I decided i wanted to take a long hot bath my feet were killing me. So as I was running my bath I threw some lavender bath salts into the tub and added some bubbles it's been a while since I got to take a long hot bath and I was going to enjoy every minute of it. As I'm laying there I look over at my phone laying on the floor and fight with my self on texting him now or just waiting I don't wanna seem to egret. But I just could not wait any longer I just wanted to talk to him. I pull up his name smiling at the name he put in there thinking to my self what a weirdo. I guess I should start off small and simple so they only thing I could think of was hi. A 30 minutes past and I never received a text message back so a little depressed I just put the phone down and laid back in the tub closing my eyes and enjoying the hot water emerging around me. All of a sudden my phone went off I grabbed it immediately just to find out it was a notification from Spotify I rolled my eyes and just laid back against the tub again. I kept telling myself just relax I decided it was time to get out my fingers have become pruning and the water was starting to become a little chill. I grab for my soft white robe and wrap a towel around my hair as I'm heading out the door my phone goes off again and I thought to myself probably just another notification I'll grab it in a few and I head off to my bedroom. As I'm looking through my dresser I throw on my purple stitch pajama bottoms and my Mickey Mouse sweater and start to lay down as I'm reaching over to set the alarm on my phone I forget that I left it in the bathroom on the floor and head down the hall to pick it oh my screen lights up and I see I have a new text message. My heart started racing when I noticed who it was from. All I could think was all my God oh my God it's him. So I opened his message and it says I'm sorry but I don't know who this is you. I laugh at myself because I forgot I never put my phone number in his phone. The only thing I could think of to say was who do you think this is? He replied back I have a feeling I know who this is but I'm not sure. I replied back well take a guess you may be right or you could be wrong. He says is it the girl that can't watch where she's walking? At first I didn't understand what he was talking about and then I think back to the scene when I saw him at the other restaurant. I replied back maybe maybe not?! He said I'm gonna take a wild guess and say yes. We ended up talking through the night until the early morning I learned so much about him but I didn't know before. like how his mother passed away on his birthday I felt so bad and then he told me about his father's passing and How his brother lives in a different state and how he wasn't even from here I learned that he had a child with a woman that basically used him when it was good enough for her and how he was foolish enough to go back just to learn that she didn't want him anymore once again and that was why he was down here in Missouri and not up there with his family and had already found someone new I learned about all his tattoos the teddy bear tattooed on his shoulder his initials being tattooed on his hand and his parents names on his back and how he fell once from a hill from being drunk and now he has a rock stuck in his skin because of it. I couldn't help but laugh when he told me about the rock in his skin and told him I didn't believe him about that he said I'll show you but you'll to come hang out with me one day i'll even show you my tattoos they look better in person than they do in pictures. It was a perfect night as the time went on he told me that he had to get to bed because he had to go to work early in the morning and then I should probably go to bed to. I said if I must we said our good nights. That night I laid in bed dreaming of him and all of the things he told me about himself it starting to make my feelings for him stronger.

The next morning I woke up to my alarms I was so excited I didn't just lay they are like I always do contemplating if I even wanna get up or not. I decided that I was going to do my make up this morning I mean I know he knows what I look like but there's no harm in trying to make yourself look good so I started with the concealer Cheyenne picked out for me. Trying my best to apply it correctly as I saw on YouTube. Then I try to apply eyeshadow that smoky island is not as easy as I thought it would be I kept messing up and having the The powder falling all over my cheeks I gave up on using the brush and decided just to use my pinky it seemed to go on better anyways and somehow made it even more darker than with a brush which is my opinion does not make any sense at all. After I finally got the hang of the eyeshadow while the best of my ability I added the eyeliner I remember not to add so much because apparently it makes me look like a raccoon try to do the wings I see a lot of girls do and I thought all that I'll look too bad I was wrong so so wrong one with way too far and the other for some reason looked like a big square right by my eyelid I was about to give up until I tried one more time and I finally got it right. I decided today that I was gonna wear my hair up in pigtails with a little buns instead of them hanging down low and I found my hair bandanna and decided I wanted to wear that today instead of my hat that way it shows off my pigtails I decided to go with my dangling pink earrings I put on my blue jeans and a shirt that was just a little too tight but enough to where I can still move around. I looked at the mirror myself and pretended that I was talking to him I know it's a little silly but I know we all do it I was feeling pretty cute this morning and it was all because of him I couldn't wait to see him!

Cheyenne was already at work since she was the manager she had to be there an hour before everyone else to turn on the oven to put the chairs over and start the prep for the day she saw me walking through the door and said wow what happened to you I told you that eyeshadow that I need to make your eyes pop!?! I said thank you I've got a hot date today and I took your advice hopefully it works. All I could do was keep looking at the door waiting for him to come in he didn't exactly tell me what time he was coming in so I had to plan a waiting game it was now 12 in the afternoon and he still had not stopped by my smile started to fade I was fighting with myself thinking should I text him and ask him or if I should just leave him alone finally I decided to just leave them alone I didn't wanna come off as needy I wanted to impress this guy not pushed him away. 3 o'clock had rolled around the corner and my smile has completely disappeared. I was getting off work soon and I had giving up seeing him today.

Just then Heather walked in the door and she said geez don't look so happy to see me. I apologize and said of course I'm happy to see you what are you doing here she told me Bobby had called her and told her to stop by the restaurant today he got the uniforms in sooner than he thought he would. Just then Cheyenne walks up and says hi I'm Cheyenne and I'll be your manager here it's great to finally meet you Hillary has told me so much about you already I feels like I already know you. As they were walking to the back I hear the door open I like hoping it was him unfortunately it was not it was the family of seven. They all have smiles on their faces I was just grateful that they set up a booth and out at the bar so Sarah had to take care of them I usually wouldn't mind taking care of them but with me only having about 10 minutes before getting off work I really didn't wanna stay and have to take care of a table of a family. Heather and Cheyenne walk out of the office and Heather asked if we are doing anything tonight we both say no and asked if we wanna go out we both said sure why not we both ask where would we go she said back to my house we asked if we need to bring anything and she said you can bring more beer I have plenty but there's nothing wrong with having extra. We told her sounds great and that I remembered where she lives so I can drive us out to her asked her if 8 was OK? She said sounds great see you at eight!!!
