Sienna's POV
I stood still waiting until Leah shut the door and her footsteps had faded away before speaking up, "You go blank on me for a full day and then suddenly text me about a trip?" I lashed out, my voice coming out louder than it intended.
Julian’s lips curled up, "How is your boyfriend or should I say 'ex' as you said?" The malice in his voice was so raw I could literally feel it.
"Don't even f*****g start, if you had let me explain you would have understood" I defended trying to keep the memory out of my head. I struggled to get myself out of the slump Damon almost put me in and talking about him is the last thing I need right now.
"Explain?" He scoffed.
"I should have let you explain that the same man you swore was your ex was in your house, so close to kissing you? Who knows what would have happened if I hadn't walked in" he rolled his eyes watching me intently waiting for my reaction. One he isn't going to get.
"You can think and say whatever you want to, I don't care" My voice shook but I masked it properly. "All I came here to tell you is that I can't make it for the trip, I have something urgent to handle" I lied, I can't tell him that I can't go on a plane, at least not yet so this has to suffice.
"What could be more important than your job?" He c****d his head to the side watching me with skepticism.
"Family of course"
"Well whatever the problem is I can only give you from till 2pm to settle it because our flight is by 3pm and you are expected to be here before then," He said blankly.
"I won't be able to finish up by then". He isn't getting it, the whole point of this is to miss the freaking trip not make it back in time for it.
"Well you have to make it work Miss Blake," he said coldly "Or you kiss your job goodbye" he threatened shocking me.
My stomach dropped, "What!"
"No, you can’t do that" I shot. He can’t do that right?
"Well, Miss Blake, I am your boss now," he said flatly.
" I can do whatever I want. So I would advise you to get going so you would be back on time, if you are late you would have to find your way to New Jersey because I would not be waiting for you" he said in a stoic voice. Of course, he won't, it's his jet after all, but that doesn't make it any less traumatic for me.
I have to find a way out of this before 3pm today, or Julian would see a side of me that only my family knows about.

"You'd better have good news" Lila snapped immediately after I picked up her call. She is still very angry with me and at this point, I am angry at myself too but I am sure both our angers are for very different reasons.
It is already noon and I am no closer to a solution. I haven't even gotten the chance to see Julian again, he thrust himself into a back-to-back meeting. It is like he is trying to cover up all the work he may miss while away, which just gets me thinking. How the CEO works more than his employees baffles me, I can never fully understand workaholics and their ways.
"He is insisting I must go with him"
"He even gave me the day off with the condition that I would be back in time for the flight" I sighed loudly.
"You didn't tell him, did you?" She asked although we both know she already has her answer.
"I can't do that Lila, at least not now. I have to get him on my side so I don't sound crazy" It wasn't a lie but it wasn't totally true either.
"I understand your fear but Sienna you can't get on a plane, and no matter how much you stall the truth remains"
"This time could be different, I am stronger now" I tried to argue.
"You get on that freaking plane and I would storm down to your office and make a scene so bad you both would have to come back" she threatened. I know better than to take her words for granted. Lila doesn't bluff when it comes to me and even though I love that about her, I really don't need that right now.
"Lila, okay if I promise you that I would back out at the slightest sign of something going wrong would it be better?"
"No but I can manage that"
"How do you intend on backing out once the plane is in the air though?". Honestly, I don't know and deep down I know I won't but I need to get her off my back. Things with Julian are just really bad right now and this job is one of the very few things that keeps me out of my head. It has been three months since my last therapy session and I need to keep going this way or else I would be back right where I started and I can’t have anyone worrying about me anymore, they all have their lives to live.
"Just please trust me, Lila, I will be fine" I answered vaguely.
"I am only comfortable with this Sienna, if anything goes wrong trust me when I say I wouldn't be letting you do anything you aren't supposed to do again no matter what you say"
I smiled to myself although she couldn't see it, it feels so good to have someone who cares about you this much.
"Nothing will go wrong, Lila" I assured pushing down the dread in my heart.
I am just going to have to face my fears, if not for anything but to prevent my best friend from coming after Julian.
