Samphire HoeJamal drove up to the security gate and presented his security pass and clearance authority for the ventilation ducting, cylinders, solenoids, heating elements and tools stowed in the rear of the truck.
The security guard examined the pass and clearance permit itemising the ventilation equipment, materials and tools. “what’s this lot for then,” said the guard.
“For some operational validation tests, together with the Rail Control Centre, for the new freight rail and service tunnel’s ventilation systems. Making sure both hardware and software interfaces are all functioning and performing correctly.”
“Doing it all on your own are we?”
