Epilogue
War and diplomacy were two games Rasha was tired of playing. She longed for a fetch and delivery. Central had reinstated her status after her delivery of Chiza to the palace and the death of Lu. She wasn’t sure if it was guilt or obligation that convinced them to do it but Rasha didn’t care. What bothered her was they’d assigned her a new partner.
“Isn’t this great?” Jak bounded alongside her.
The sun was a sliver in the northern horizon and he was already as happy as a piko.
“Is it?”
Rasha couldn’t figure out how he’d done it. Jak had gone from courier outcast to her partner in a matter of days. It was no secret, she liked Jak. Maybe even more than she wanted to admit. She enjoyed being with him every day but she preferred to work alone.
