Lianne's POV “How did I get here? Who brought me here?” I asked Irene looking her straight in the eye “ I need you to answer me honestly please Irene” I added when I saw her hesitate. She looked at me “I really wish I could answer that question” “I also don't know who brought you here three days ago. I just heard someone knock on the door and when I went outside to check, I found you with a note and a stack of money attached to your body” She said and handed me a note. I looked at the note which reads “You must keep her alive, she is safest here". I tilted my head to one side and examined the note again as if by doing so I can identify the person who wrote it. The handwriting on the note is sharp and elegant, each word like a command. I read and re-read the note then I looked up at Irene searching her face to see any traces of lie but I found none. " Alright but I cannot accept this, I need to leave this city” “You can't Miss Smith…..” Irene said but I cut her off. “Don't call me that, to the entire city and to my family Lianne Smith is dead” I said my eyes cold and emotionless “and I plan to remind dead to them” Irene came closer to me, and placed her warm hand on my hand which is holding the note, a gentle and compassionate expression on her face. " But you are not fully healed child, you can't move around” “ I may not know much about you and your family, and I honestly don't care to know. One thing I do know is that anything that happens today, happens for a reason" she said while nodding. “I can also see that you are a good and kind person,” Irene added. Then she moved her eyes from my face to the note in my hands. I cleared my throat which feels blocked because of his emotional I am “I need a mirror, I need to look at my face” I said changing the topic. In all my twenty two years of life no one has shown me this amount of kindness Irene is showing me except my father. And I do not like the feeling of being a burden to her. I need to get out of here, out of this city fast only then will I be at peace. She nodded and left but soon returned with the mirror I requested for. “Thank you,” I said, collecting the mirror from her. I looked at my face in the mirror, it is bruised but still preserved. I took a deep breath and looked out through the window, then I turned to face Irene. “I have made up my mind, I'll leave by dawn tomorrow morning, you can't stop me from going” She sighed and opened her mouth as if to persuade me more but she gave up and said “It's okay Lianne everything will be fine. You should do what your heart wants” I nodded, looked out through the window and whispered softly “Adrian, Celeste enjoy your new position and marriage while it last because I'll be back soon and when I am back I'll make sure to repay you back two- fold what you did and also take back everything that belongs to me”. Lianne POV Three months later The aeroplane landed on the tarmac, runned for a while before it finally stopped. The door opened and different people were wearing different outfits. Then I stepped out dressed in my black overalls. A short black bodyhug dress that clings to my body in all the appropriate places highlighting my curves, black sunshades, and black trench coat, paired with black toe covered heels. I stepped out of the aeroplane dragging a black travelling bag alongside me. My dark brown wavy hair let loose and bounced softly as I walked. I could feel all eyes on me as soon as I stepped out of the aeroplane. I stopped for a moment and took in a deep breath and smiled. I looked around me relishing the air and environment around me then I continued to walk. My black heels made clicking sounds on the tarmac floor as I walked out of the airport and stood by the roadside. A black sedan came to a stop in front of me and I entered the car then as if registering what's going to happen soon rain suddenly started and it poured heavily on the hard earth making it soft. I smiled in satisfac tion and whispered “the game is about to begin …”
