35I sat in the Volvo, engine idling, air conditioning working too well. Outdoors on the battlefield, I was comfortable in Vicky’s running togs. I had to save that outfit for my next run with Dawna. At home, I changed into equally cool white shorts and my sandals. I added a sleeveless top featuring sunflowers on a black background. During the past half hour, clouds piled up to block out the blue sky. Parked in this lot three miles from Dulles, goosebumps were popping out on my arms. I had to leave the windows up for privacy. To keep from freezing on the drive home, I wrested climate control from the Swedish nanny. Bumped the thermostat to seventy. Turned off the engine.
